What have you tried? What did you like about it? What is the best cleaning solution? I need to spot clean my carpets again it has only been 3 weeks. I would hate to rent one to spot clean so wondering what is the top of the line in the stores. Thanks for your information in advance.

Kirby!

Bug Lees mama --- 13 years ago -

Why? and dont say cause I sell it! lol

MorganLin --- 13 years ago -

Woolite in the blue bottle, it works wonders!! :) That and my hoover steamvac - but even without the steam cleaner, the spot cleaning spray works amazingly! Good Luck!

ellaella --- 13 years ago -

Kirby is really the best if you can afford one, I know they do financial options but still expensive as hell.

But we owned a hoover and a bissel pro heat loved the bissel !

Bug Lees mama --- 13 years ago -

Yeah I tried the spot cleaning and it left a bigger spot. I have this small area by the kitchen that is bugging me. I might have to go rent the DR tonight! I cant stand it lol!

~Tanya~ --- 13 years ago -

I love my Bissell ProHeat. It's awesome! And that along with my Dyson, I don't mind sitting on my floors. LOL

I rented a Rug Dr (is that what they are from the PX?) and I can tell you... my Bissell did a better job, but we had the Bissell dry and packed for our move.

Let me tell you guys a semi short story how we got over on housing today lol...

Ok our downstairs had dog urine stains, we had to pay 1%, yep you read that right, so like 5 bucks, but yeah anyway...

Dude went upstairs where a male dog I dogsat for once had marked my bed as his turf and hubby poured vinegar on it, put a towel and his boot on it to keep it saturated. Housing guy stuck his lil pee stick in the spot, not even a blip on the radar lmao.

So yeah, stains, put some vinegar, let it set with a white towel or washcloth and sop it up, couldn't believe the difference and really couldn't believe it passed the pee stick test ;)

Bug Lees mama --- 13 years ago -

Yes I tried the vinegar too but the last shampooer I borrowed was a small one no heat. I believe in vinegar too! Congrats Shelley on getting over on housing! Love to hear stories of people not being taken to the cleaners by Equity!

Use vinegar when you clean your carpets. A lady here does ours once a month bc of it being a sandy area (Ga) and it makes them so clean, sanitizes, and makes them fluffy again. I love it! If the kids have an accidental spill I spot clean with it, works wonders! She has a Bissel pro heat and she uses hot water in it so it's super hot once it's heated.

~Tanya~ --- 13 years ago -

I want a pee stick! My issue is I have a potty training girl and one that sometimes pees (mostly when she's super tired and upset) I'd love to get one so I can get ALLLLL the urine out of these carpets. We've only been here (AK) for a year, and the carpet was new when we moved in, so I'm scared we'll be charged through the nose when we buy our house. :-\

Maui Girl (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

I bought a Bissell Proheat for us and the competing Hoover for my mom for X-mas and got to try out both. In my opinion, they both clean about the same. I did some extensive "top rated carpet cleaner" searches and read hundreds of reviews before making my decision. Our Bissell was about $300.

Bug Lees mama --- 13 years ago -

Sounds like Bissell will be on my wish list!

Yogis Mommy --- 13 years ago -

Do you just add the vinegar to the water? How much?

Shutterbug --- 13 years ago -

I may just have to try that for our carpets! I need to shampoo again at least twice before our final out. I like to try and do it once every other week, since we have 3 kiddos, a dog, and a cat. So, heavy traffic.

Oh, if you all are looking for something good for the soap dishes and faucets, we used that Kaboom! Foam stuff, and it really does work well! Just be careful not to get it on the paint. We found that out the hard way when a little paint peeled. However, we were smart, and got a can of touch up paint from the maintenance guys when they were here building a new linen closet door for us (the previous tenants had it ALL out of whack).

Kirby ;0)

FoleysWifey --- 13 years ago -

I love kirby :). Hopefully I will get to buy one soon from a friend.

The woolite oxy in the blue bottle is absolutely my favorite cleaner ever! I have to go buy a new bottle though :(

babycakes --- 13 years ago -

So I have a kirby vacume and carpet cleaner, and while I love it as a vacume I really hav enot be been impressed by the kirby carpet cleaning part. That lead me to buy the bissel pro heat 2x, IN LOVE!!! WILL NEVER OWN ANYTHING ELSE! For mothers day the huby got me the bissle spot bot, again IN LOVE, FOR THOSE LITTLE SPILLS AND SMALL SPOTS ON THE CARPET.

Yep i finally popped Aug 13th --- 13 years ago -

i absolutely hated all 3 of my bissels...within about 6 months of buying them they all broke down...i took really good care of them and cleaned them thoroughly after each use...i have just stuck to renting the Rug Dr from the Shoppette. But i used the Hoover Premium Pet carpet cleaner...and omg my carpets look amazing each and every time i use it..i do the hottest water i can from the tap and then add in the hoover formula stuff and WOW!!! We are actually buying our own rug DR at tax season...its like 800 bucks and comes with a years worth of supply :)

Maui Girl (Mod) --- 13 years ago -

I stopped buying carpet cleaning solution after I figured out that 2 capfuls of bleach, 2 capfuls of liquid laundry detergent and filling the remaining void in the solution compartment with water cleaned amazingly well and made my whole house smell tremendously clean. And it hasn't stained the carpet! I love it. :) Saves me tons by not having to go out and buy special cleaners.

FoleysWifey --- 13 years ago -

I used to use laundry detergent or dish soap when I didn't have money for the machine stuff...works awesome and smells great!

Like clorox bleach? Do you have light carpet? Wow I would be afraid to use that but I might have to try it on a section. Is anyone renting a Rug Doctor...I only have a small section and I would hate to rent it for the 24 hours if all I need it for would be maybe 2.

Bleach on your carpet???????

I use bleach...especially when the damn dogs piss on it. LOL

Yogis Mommy --- 13 years ago -

No one has answered my question about the vinegar ----- do you put it in the water ...and how much?

FoleysWifey --- 13 years ago -

I poured straight vinegar on my carpet...really lightened the stain up and I couldn't even smell it after a day.

Yogis Mommy --- 13 years ago -

Thank you FoleysWifey! :D

CarolinaGirl --- 13 years ago -

I use straight vinegar to! Works like a charm!!

Also I have a Bissell and have always owned one. I have the newest one that I bought from costco. (cause if it breaks or messes up, you can return it) It keeps my carpet looking awesome!!!!

Skay --- 13 years ago -
