Ok where was everyone 10 years ago when us as America was changed?

I was sitting on the couch watching TV before I headed off to work. I had graduated in June so I had gone to work full time. At that time I was with the fire dept and my pager went off and we all had to go to the station. Once I had gotten to the station we didnt know what was going to happen where we were at. We also had some of our firefighter getting stuff ready so they could make the trip to NY to help in recovery. When ever I went out and I was wearing the dept wardrobe I had so many people coming up to me to thank me for what I did. At that time I was going threw the academy but I was helping around the station on calls and when there was training fires. Ever since then I got out and now Im married to a wonderful husband who is a solider. Besides EMS Firefighters and Police the Military also has the most rewarding and they sacrifice everything as well and dont get much for it. So as sun comes my heart goes out to all the family's that lost a loved ones on that day and for all the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice since 9-11. All I can say is Im proud to be an american and Im also proud of a Army wife

I can remember like it was yesterday, I was getting a bottle ready for my first born and I stopped and just watched the tv in horror. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Too see the towers fall and people jumping out of the windows, i will never forget it.

And here we are today, 10 years later, still in the fight, with no end in sight. With a husband over there right now and many others going through or getting ready to go over, we all know its far from over. Prayers and strength go out for our nation... We need to hold our heads high as Americans and let them know they can't break us.

Abbys Mama --- 13 years ago -

I was raised in NY and I remember 9/11 so so clear. I was a freshman in High school and we were in second period, US history (ironic). My hisgh school was made out of glass meaning we can see to the outside of the schoo which was the big bay and then the city. Our assistant principal came in to the classroom and said "The world trade center was hit by two airplanes"... we all ran to the window and you can see one tower on fire and smoke EVERYWHERE. everyone started freaking out. People started to leave, trying to contact their love ones. It was one of the scariest times of my life. I didnt feel safe anywhere I went. It was like watching a nighmare! Now 10 years later I am married to a soldie/ fire fighter and Im so thankful that God saw us (america) thru that hard time. GOD BLESS AMERICA.....

I was in a hospital having just found out my baby was gonna be born on that tragic day and 4 months prematurely. To this day very few people celebrate with us. I do honor those who died that day but more than anything I celebrate the miracle that is my sons life today

Rosey Bum --- 13 years ago -

I had no idea the entire day what was going on. I worked with Family Services and had been going from one clients home to another. I got to my babysitter's house to pick up my kids and saw on the TV. They were shocked I had not known this all day. I sat there at her house for about 2 hours, watching, listening, and in shock.

NadaSuperstar --- 13 years ago -

Was sitting in statistics class in college. Our professor flipped on live feed to projection screen so we could watch the devastating news. At that point in time.. i was worried most about my oldest brother who was in the marines. Stressful, yet blessed time in my life.

staindingbymyman --- 13 years ago -

I was a Freshman in High School going into my 2nd hr geo/civ class I remember my teacher turning on the tv and we watched the news the whole hr.

proudjagwife --- 13 years ago -

We were living in Fairbanks, Alaska. That morning at 2am our time my husband had left for PLDC in Anchorage. My mother in law called me at about 6am and told me to turn on the TV and asked where my husband was. I remember feeling very alone, we had just moved to Alaska and knew no one. My husband was held up for a few hours, but eventually sent on to Anchorage, the funny thing is the people in PLDC never really knew the extent of what had happened til at the end of the course a month later and they could see the news stories

tabathalane --- 13 years ago -

I was in jr high. 2nd period computermclass that was taught by my now grandfather inlaw.. Like everyone else, we were glued to the tv. I don't think we done any school work that day..

GuNMetAl --- 13 years ago -

I was in seattle with my boyfriend and best friend. We woke up to the tv blaring the news *Left it on the night before*

We were all in shock! just all watching it with our jaws pretty much hitting the floor.

babycakes --- 13 years ago -

I was at my daughters pre k class, We where doing cupcakes for her birthday. All the kids where laughing running around yelling Happy Birthday Hallie. When the the principal walked in and had been crying she calmy told the teacher what had happened and that they where releasing all the children to go home. My mom eas supposed to be in tower 1 that day, when I realized where and what was going on i started calling and calling and calling. Me and my husband being a fireman and a paramedic where put in alert from our works. I still had not heard from my mom, for all her work knew she was at a meeting in in the 1st tower. I lost at that point. When my phone wrang, my mom said baby Im ok I had to reschedul my meeting and I am still in colorado. I have never been been more heart broke and thankfull all at the same time. 9/11 is the day I started seeing my mom as a person, the day that causes my husband to deploy now every other year, a sad sad sad day for america and all the people we lost day. But for us it is more, it is the day I gave birth to my first born, we have a rule in our house. We do the moment of silence but we always make sure that the bad does not cloud the amazing that happened for us on 9/11

We where stationed in LA. I was talking to my bf she is in NJ wishing her a happy birthday when the line went dead my sister called n asked if the guys would be leaving n if we were ok n I didn't know what she was talking about. She asked if I had the news on I told her I just walked in the door. So I turned on the news n then my other line rang it was the. Company with a recording to not call the campany n if we could get the guys bags packed n case they have to leave n as soon as they could call or come home they will. 8yrs later in Jan 2009 my brother in law got killed in action in Iraq from a IED. Fight for our freedom.

I was asleep in bed in Palmer Alaska.

JoJo --- 13 years ago -

We were stationed at Fort Hood and I was sitting in Human Anatomy at CTC. The TV's had been on showing and the minute they announced that the Pentagon was hit, I called my husband and told him that they would be going. He said he was not sure and I said they hit the pentagon and that is when they saw it too and all he said is I have to go. My kids were on post at school and it took me 6 hours to get thru the checkpoint ( up until now Fort Hood did not have a checkpoint you just drove in) I am so grateful for my fellow wives that were there to get my children for me and the rest put into motion 3 years that I would see my husband a total of 6 months. Funny cause here 10 years later we are getting to repeat that pattern.

VonDutch --- 13 years ago -

I was working as a jeans inspector for wrangler jeans factory in Seminole, Oklahoma and I did not take my break but people who were in the break room told everyone something serious was on the news, about 2,000 workers in that factory got up and left their machines and tried to all squeeze into the break room to see what was going on on the little tv. People just hugged each other and cried.

Shutterbug --- 13 years ago -

I had woken up to someone banging on the front door. It was my neighbor, and she told me that a plane just crashed into the first tower, and to turn the tv on. When I got the tv turned on, I saw all of the chaos, and couldn't do anything but look on in horror, hold my baby girl, and cry. My roommate came home later, with a shocked look on his face. He immediately got on the phone, and called his family. I just heard him asking, "Is she alright? Was she there?", and then he sat down and just had a look of relief. He said that he was extremely worried, because his aunt was supposed to be on the plane that hit the Pentagon, but something happened, and she didn't get on the plane.

I still want to just cry when I think about that day. We can't let those horrible, hateful, evil people keep us down, though. We have to show that we are strong, and that even though they hit us hard, they won't win.

Katena --- 13 years ago -

I was at home and did not turn the tv on. I had just had our 3rd son 24 days before and had been dealing with a cloicky baby. My friend called to tell me they were shutting down the schools. It was a crazy day can you remember where you were the day before.
I was 27 we were stationed in Norfolk Virginia they were shutting everything down schools and the base.

Kathryn --- 13 years ago -

I was a junior in high school. My best friend and I had first period right next to each other and always walked down to our next classes together. After class we met up and she said "Some idiot piolt just flew into the pentagon!" And I was kinda confused until I got to my next class and the tv was on and the teacher and other students knew what was going on. In every class we just sat in front of the tv and watched the news replay the planes hitting the towers over and over again. Our principal came over the loud speaker and told us that we could go home if we wanted to and parents were allowed to come up to the school. The choir went into the commons area of our main building and sang the National Anthem, it was a very werid day. I can not believe it will be ten years tomorrow. I was in shock then and I still am that something like that ever happened here. That night I went to a prayer meeting at my local church were I met up with two of my friends who had already graduated, the next day they withdrew from college and enlisted in the Marines. Both of them were part of the first troops on the ground in Iraq.

Yogis Mommy --- 13 years ago -

I was a Freshman in college (wow now I feel old), and my mom called me on my cell phone and told me not to go to class that day, that terrorists were attacking us and to stay inside....I spent the rest of that day staring at the tv and crying....I watched the 2nd plane hit....

shandellous --- 13 years ago -

I was in 6th grade. I woke up to get ready for school and my mom told us to hurry and come watch the news. She told us that things were going to change because of it. I went to school and we all sat around the television and watched the news all day. The school had us on lockdown and we couldn't even go outside. It was really confusing being so young.

Cathy --- 13 years ago -

i was in high school in history class. i am from nyc... someone in the class looked out a window and said "the twin towers are on fire". we all went over to the window and couldnt believe our eyes. our school went into lock down mode and they wouldnt let anyone leave for a while. the subway and buses shut down, so i couldnt get home for hours. there were swarms of people walking over the major bridges to get out of the city. it was insane. when i finally got home, i hugged my dad and cried. my dad had been at the world trade center the week before on a job, and he was supposed to go back that week... but his boss told him to take a vacation. so on his first vacation day in years, he sat and watched the news and saw the terrible events that took place that day. we knew it would bring big changes. even though it was horrible... instead of cowering, the city held together and stood strong and became more united, and more proud than i had ever seen before.

jhsernst08 --- 13 years ago -

I was in 7th grade algebra class and we didn't find out until school was over. Still to this day can't believe it happend and how none of that should have happend to those people. It's so sad. My husband (whom I was still 2 weeks away from knowing at that time) was supposed to board one of those planes that hit the world trade center with his family. They got there too late and missed the flight and I must say, to this day I am glad he and his family missed it.

SarahAnn --- 13 years ago -

I was 12, in a hotel room in Reno, NV, and my family was rushing to the ICU of a hospital there because my grandpa had just had a heart attack. We spent a week waiting for him to die and watching news about all the people who died. It was one of the saddest weeks of my entire life, always will be.

Kelly G --- 13 years ago -

I was 21 years old. I dressed up like the State Fair brand corn dog costume for a food show at Portland, Oregon's Memorial Coliseum. On the outside I was waving, under the costume I was in tears.
