Very interesting. BUt I do feel that housing does get tired of neighbor disputes. There is a lot of petty fighting amongst neighbors everywhere at every military installation.
No way to really tell who is in the right or wrong in this case unless you personally know the situaiton and know first hand the situation with each of these families.
On the other hand, if you have a bunch of neighbors, who for some reason do not like you, or your kid, and may have made false complaints, etc against you or your children, I can see housing saying you know what? enough! Get along or get out.
I lived next door to one of those type of families. We actually never talk to any of our neighbors from past experience, other than hi and by, how are you, and most of our neighbors, all of our neighbors are new we have been here in this particular house for 4 yrs now...but they don't speak it's strange to me. I would at least say hello.
We had a neighbor who just appeared not to like dogs filed false complaints on our dog and our neighbors two labs. Funny thing was I was in Long beach Wa at the time, our truck was here, but they probably thought we were home. Our dog was with us in the hotel and we brought back a receipt to housing proving we had our dog because of the pet fee we had to pay to bring her with us, and pics from the beach! lol
I'm not sure what possessed them to do that since our dog(we only had one at the time) is well behaved, friendly, and listens to us very well.
I know we had issues with neighbors. We were lucky because others where having the same issues. We also moved as well. I am glad I have decent neighbors on both sides and across from me. This is sad but I would have looked for a place because appeals don't always work.
There's probably a lot more to this story, because there always is lol.
Although she had been given the 60-day notice to evacuate, Gardner said she did not look for new housing because she was working to get the housing company to repeal the eviction notice until her family changes duty stations next year.
That was a huge mistake. No matter who was in the right/wrong, she was issued the notice and should've made finding a new place to live priority #1. Hopefully they'll be able to get into a new place soon, and it's early enough in the school year that her child who attends school should be able to transition easily.
Nicole Gardner was a good friend. She kinda pushed me away when I wouldn't take a stand.(in my opinion) I wouldn't support her side because I didn't agree with either side. They did not conduct themselves with maturity and dignity. Then there came the consequences.
And for the record this area over in Beachwood is a wreck. I had never in my life seen the type of people on any other military installation. This was the street (next to the street) where the murder took place last year. Two soldier suicides. On different sides of the street. The meth problem (but one girl moved off post due to hubby killing himself) and the other girls husband got back from deployment and kicked her out. This street has kids running around every where and mps out daily. This street is an embarrassment to the military.
I would have definitely looked for other housing options as soon as housing mentioned an eviction. I understand that not everyone can pick up and move though. I honestly know we couldn't right at the moment. :/
I would have looked immediately too but from what I understand they dropped it from 60 days to 11. I know if I had to pick up and move in 11 days I couldn't do it.
She did look for other housing. Those who have been to my house know of the little white house on the corner? That went up for rent. I was attempting to put in a word for her but the land lord said no dogs. They have a pit bull. They would not get rid of the dog so they couldn't move in. It was a four bedroom for $1000 its big. They chose the dog.
@Yourmom exactly they talk about this but don't talk about the rape by one of the lawns guys in Olympic Grove a few weeks back. I don't know all the details just heard it from my neighbor. Exactly why not move them to another neighborhood.
Unless the parent came forward to the news with their children's names (which is unwise) I believe that including the children's names may even border being illegal.
wow! that was fast! the kids names are no longer in the news article!
There has to be more to the story! I lived on post housing almost 10 years and I have never known anyone to be evicted, the only person I knew to be kicked out was a family w/ a boy who was a registered sex offender that lived half a block from Hillside Elementary. It made the news and the fam was out within a week!
I agree I have lived in housing 13 years various bases and never heard of someone getting evicted. There's more to this story than any of us will know.
In the five years I was at lewis, I saw one family get evicted because of excess garbage and general filth. The year I spent in Carson, a family got evicted for animal cruelty. So it does happen. They threatened to Evict me because of BS drama.
I've been threatened by housing for something 100% not legitimate. This was the one and only time I made my own complaint against the one's complaining about us. The BS immediately stopped.
