ok what are they shooting and when is it gonna stop...it stoped for a while but has just started up again and woke my son up...i didnt hear or read anything about this. In new hillside and annoyed...its 930...i get the need to train after dark...but its been dark for a while now...its getting rediculous. 

lol k nvr mind guess they stoped again...still annoying lol. love it durring the day...but with kids sleeping having my walls rattling like crazy just doesnt work for me. 

I heard on the radio there is night exercises til the 26th or something like that. I just remember it was going to last a few days. 

Lol it's been shaking my house, too. My kiddo slept through it though. I asked my husband what it was, he said it was the big cannons. Nooooot too sure what that's actually called. He doesn't tell me technical names since I don't know what they are. 

lol i know they are the big ones...i just dont know which big one...and its still going tho its much less extreme or often now...im seriously about to make a call to someone and ask them if they wanna come take care of my child they keep waking up miles and miles from the ranges cuz they insist on doing the large guns at a rediculous hour. its now 1030...i get needing to practice at night...but its been night for a while...do it for 7 days for all i care just stop at a resonable hr...we have familys with kids waking up...and mommys with twitchy trigger fingers every time her windows rattle from a loud noise while she is home alone while her hubby is deployed...just sayin. lol 

looked on the official jblm website...aparently its been going on from the 11th and wont end till the 22nd...and will go till midnight...and its howitzers demolition and c4...i dont give a rats rear end what it is. it is making me twitchy and waking my kid up all freaking night...you do not have to constantly blow crap up all freaking night long for 11 days to "remain effecient" at such things...if you need practice blowing crap up then you arent a real man and need to be discharged anyway...guns yes practice...bombs not something ya need to practice...aim in the general area of the broad side of the barn and kaboom no more freaking barn! not freaking hard...grrrrrr! 

I can hear it all the way up by the Tacoma Mall too. Sounds like 1/2 earthquake, 1/2 like fireworks.

yeah i have to be up bright and early tomorrow for chris to get to school...and if i dont get at least 6 hrs of sleep to be woken up at 530 its like im under a sleeping curse lol...takes a crowbar and some serious mental strength on my part...strength i just dont have at 530 when my bed is so warm lol. its now almost an hr after it said it would be over...nasty call #2 is about to happen if i hear them after 1...i would love to go to sleep but everytime im about to drift off...chris wakes up crying about the monsters pounding on the wall or the cars trying to break in or the bad guys of some kind trying to "splode" him lol. its so cute and yet so annoying. i have music on but it doesnt help cuz the walls rattle.


i feel for ya livin right there by the ranges. im glad i dont live that close cuz if i did...my cajones would grow just enough to get me out to that range to give someone a piece of my mind.

anyone got a screaming baby they want off their hands for the night lol...goin out there and askin them if they want to deal with "this" for the rest of the night alone with a deployed hubby as you point at a screaming baby is a great way to get a mans attention lol.

It never really bothered us or the kids when we heard it. Here at Campbell they were training late as well. Our kids sleep right through it. I remember complaining about it when were new the Military, before kids, and I was told if I didn't want to hear it then I shouldn't live on post or close to post. Also, that they have to train when they can otherwise they will be unprepared for missions. Last complaint I made, lol. Soon I was used to it and sleeping right through it. When we moved away from there it took some time getting used to not hearing loud noises all the time because Stewart definitely didn't have as much going on.
Hopefully your son will get used to it soon. 

That is the one thing I will never miss from moving off post! 

Calling and complaining is not going to get anything to stop. It's something you have to deal with living anywhere near a base. They wont stop training just bc people call and tell them its after midnight. They'll train til the get all the people the training they had planned for the day. They have to train at all times throughout the. Right for the simple fact I know when my husband's deployed majority of his missions are in the middle of the night. Id rather know they have the proper training than someone get hurt or even killed bc people complained they couldn't sleep so they weren't allowed to train. 

I usually sleep through everything but Frankie, was it ever so loud for you that your bed shook? i have no clue how my kids slept through it. lets hope that we have the same luck tonight, tomorrow night and maybe more.

dude... the issue isn't the training, the issue is the timing. 

To train properly they need to do it at night for the ones who's job is to do missions at night.

i understand we need to download all our ammo so we don't have too much stockpiled. i get it i get it. when china attacks we'll have to go to joanns and buy up their modeling clay.
ooh i know they could go to an indoor range and turn their lights off. 

She's right, it won't change anything. My husband used to work at the headquarters building 24hrs on then 48hrs off, and he would get calls about shooting stuff (among some really outrageous claims, I swear he could write a book on those)and honestly they can't do anything.

On a side note, don't move to Ft Sill then, always blowing stuff up here :) 

Lol. I tuned it all out and went to sleep. My son went to sleep while stuff was going off, and slept through it all. The occasional really big one shook my house and surprised me, but it wasn't enough to keep me up. When I'm done, I'm done, I pass out ;-)
