I'm not sure if you have heard of this but I was just introduced by my neighbor. I just got my first fruit/veggie basket this morning.
ItÂ’s $15 for a Conventional Basket, and $25 for a 100% Certified Organic Basket.
The baskets vary each week but today this is what I got.
5 bananas, 7 carrots, 5 tomatoes, 2 pears, 1 honeydew, 2 lemons, 12 apricots, 5 onions, 3 green peppers, 1 cauliflower, 6oz blackberries, 1 cucumber, 4 ears of corn (I also split 18 pounds of apricots with my neighbors and each paid $9)
You can only contribute Monday from Noon to Tuesday at 10 pm Mountain time for pick up Saturday morning.
There are also theme baskets such as Mexican or Italian, bread, olive oil, or other fruit that you can add to your baskets.
Just wanted to share. I think this is a great price for what you get compared to the stores. Bountiful Baskets is ran by volunteers.

If you look at tagged pictures on Facebook you are able to see different baskets and how much you get each week.
No they never did. Kinda pissed me off a bit. Lol. We were SUPPOSED to switch over to USAA before Trav left, but we just never got around to it. And after paying bills, switching everything is gonna SUCK! Lol
Some of these items don't look like items that are locally grown, bananas? Do you know if they get their produce from local farms? Wondering about their carbon footprint. Their website doesn't say.
ShamWow, I'm pretty sure some of their stuff comes from Oregon, but I'm not sure about everything. I remember reading that somewhere. They also have a Facebook page. There's a lot of information scattered all over the place on there as well.
Thanks for letting me know, Suz. Idk what the issue is. I tried using two different browsers, I called my bank to see if they were having any issues with my are, but nothing. I honestly don't know what else to do. Now I have to wait until payday to attempt again (although FL Girl offered me an alternative, so I'm going to have to take her up on it next payday). A bit frustrating. :-(
Lemondrop, there's a pickup at Spanaway Elementary School. If you went out Rainier/Lincoln gate, I would imagine that might be closer. It's SUPER close to me! Lol.
:D there is a pickup spot in Yelm only a few miles from my house...
I've heard good things about it around the web but most of those people were in Ca or Az and I never bothered to check here. Thanks OP for posting this!
Freeze them! Make jam...there's lots of things you can do with strawberries. My grandma always had a freezer full of strawberry jam, but it helped we had 3 fridges lol.
Or if she had kids like mine...they'll eat a whole plastic thing to themselves in 1 day. My kids absolutely love fruit so I never say no when they want it as long as they are still going to eat their meals I make.
I keep missing the cut off! I remembered at like 10:30 tuesday night, and they stopped accepting contributions at 10. It's been like 3 weeks since I got one because I keep forgetting. Sad face.
Strawberries can last forever if you do the vinegar trick. Kills the mold spores so no more mold can grow. I just fill my sink half way with cold water and some vinegar and let the strawberries soak fora 5 minutes. Then rinse. I keep them in a bowl in the fridge.
My kids can go through a 3lb. container of strawberries in two days. It kills me because I love them, but I'm allergic. :-( I keep meaning to do this but I also keep forgetting about the cut off...thanks for bumping it back up so now maybe I won't forget!

I never knew that! I usually come right home and cut them up and mash them with splenda and freeze a part and keep part in the fridge. I am going to try that next time!
