It use to be Fridays that they would deposit but I don't think their is a specific day anymore because I have ears of people get theirs on a Tuesday. Usually the date they say it will be deposited is pretty accurate
Sarah A , just curious what day you filed? We did the jump start file to get things started, but technically filed on the 31st when I got my T1098 form.
Mine says it's been accepted, approved, and being processed but there is no deposit date. Some friends filed after I did so I'm hoping I get mine back at the same time their date is saying, which is the 6th.
It's usually that exact date. Unless you have a bank that usually pays you early like USAA, sometimes you'll get it a day early as well. I've noticed that people who used Taxslayer/Turbo Tax are getting them back faster than people who used H&R Block.
Do taxes get deposited in the bank mine says we should have it by the 6th so I am just wondering if there is just one day they put it in the bankĀ
They get deposited in the bank if you requested direct deposit. Otherwise they mail a paper check, and I've also noticed some places have an option to have it loaded onto a prepaid Visa card.
We filed on the 24th and it says we will get in the bank on the 6th:) we have usaa and never have gotten it a day before they say it will be in the account. Would be nice though!
a friend got his on the 1st. Mine is already posted to my bank, just waiting for the deposit to go through. but the IRS says the 6th. Another friend filed the same day we did, and he still hasn't gotten his accepted.
Oh Blarney! I just checked ours, it said no information is available at this time, I must wait 24hrs or until I receive and email confirmation saying ours has been accepted. Boo!
If you filed childcare tax credits or certain education credits the IRS is not able to process those returns yet. There was some type of error with forms. This also applies to small businesses, such as FCC providers and such. The IRS website says mid February they will start to process these.
Kind of suck for us...we had several of those deductions. I would rather wait to be sure they were filed correctly than losing out on money though!
Nada, we went ahead and filed without the T1098 and will be doing the amendment. The issue you mentioned is exactly why we chose to go ahead and file. It would have been Late Feb to Mid March before we could even process ours had we filed with it. So crazy all the tax issues the last 2 years with filing and processing, then waiting for particular forms, etc. Last year we had no issue at all filing with the 1098 and got the education credit no issues and very quickly.
^ Well you suck Kristie lol. JK! I don't know what's up with us not having a date yet. We filed before a lot of people and theirs has a date. Maybe ours will pop up randomly, wishful thinking lol. Not like we are in need of it but it would be nice to pay this stuff off this week and enjoy an even more fantastic birthday weekend for me and my husband.
If you read the actual IRS site people claiming only just the interest they paid on a student loan is not affected by the delay. It's the people claiming the American Opportunity Tax Credit and the Lifetime Learning Credit. So I'm still not sure why mine is being delayed bc I only did the interest one. But here's the link for anyone interested in reading the full article.
