I would miss Washington quite as much as I do! Fort Sill is nice and all but....I am tired of talking to my 6m old all day every day. Its hard for me to meet people because I have a hard time with small talk so then I come off as stuck up or weird and...augh! I miss the rain...my friends....the restaurants....even my husbands old unit!!!! Random I know....sorry!

I was the same...we're at campbell and I just want to go back to Washington.

Are you on the Fort Sill Army Wives facebook page? There is a huge amount of people on it in all ages and many do play dates at the park or other places.

It's a closed group, but you can request to be added. People helping each other out all the time too

It gets better. It takes time but you'll come across some new friends. Life is what you make it :-) but it's definitely hard to replace that one great group of friends. Try to steer clear of any negative thoughts and enjoy it the best you can. Shelley's advice is also great!!

Shelley I found a couple sites on FB. I will have to look up that one. A play day would do this women some good at keeping sane! ;) One lady on my on post community page has been super nice. Turns out she only lives a couple houses down and her son and my son are in the same class! I even go invited out for doughnuts tomorrow! Woop woop! lol

Frankie- You are so right! I guess being a shut in and peaking out my blinds all day is just not going to get me very far in the friends and life department huh? Ah well...it was worth a try.....

Frankie --- 11 years ago -

Haha probably not. Invited out to donuts?! That's a great friendship! Lol. Hope you enjoy it.

I think that's my issue here...but I really do miss how peaceful the scenery was in Washington and I miss having a close beach. I'm going to have to find some creeks around here once it gets warm and tons of outside stuff to do. I hate being inside all the time.

Washington ROCKS!!!

ChrisPBacon --- 11 years ago -

I love it here and honestly most that don't are simply homesick!

CSGray --- 11 years ago -

I kinda miss Washington. There are certain people who I would rather catch the black plague than ever encounter again... but they're easily avoidable...

VolsChick --- 11 years ago -

Moved to Memphis since hubs is now medically retired and we are moving back to Washington.!!!!!!! Now being a true born and raised Washingtonian I am so looking forward to coming home! There is no place like home and definitely no place like Washington!

I'll be the odd ball. We've been gone almost a year and I don't miss WA at all. My husband is from WA and doesn't miss it at all either.

As far as meeting people though...you can never go wrong with doughnuts! :-) And maybe in a couple months when the weather warms up you'll be able to meet more people outside at parks and pools. Do you have a story hour at the library? I take my little ones every other week and have met some really nice people there. We usually go out for coffee when the story is over.

We've been at Hood for a year, it is too brown here. I hate it. I miss the evergreen trees and the misty rain. I liked being close enough to take a days drive to either family (it's nice to not feel torn though, being here in TX).

peanutbutterjellytime --- 11 years ago -

Well my son got sick so I couldn't go to doughnuts :( But she went anyway and brought us back a whole bag of amazing, fresh out doughnuts! I ate three..shhhh...don't tell ;) Also, my pipes burst in my kitchen today. Good times....

peanutbutterjellytime --- 11 years ago -

I'm with you BDom on the to brown thing. We took good care of our lawn in WA so it was always soft to walk on. This house....its all prickly weeds and dirt.

Frankie --- 11 years ago -

That was really nice of her! Hope your son feels better soon.
