Does anybody know where I can drop off donations for the families who lost their homes in the Davis Hill fire? I have lots of baby boy stuff for the family expecting. Thanks!

Megan LeeAnne --- 5 years ago -

I messaged you back. Like I said in the message they said they got plenty of that stuff. After they started requesting jewelry and things in my opinion that are not an "I need this to get by" I stopped following the group.

Etruria --- 5 years ago -

Thanks for the info! I'll pass the clothes on then.

Megan LeeAnne --- 5 years ago -

You're welcome :)

Your Mom --- 5 years ago -

that is sad. jewelry? really?

kcsegypt --- 5 years ago -

I guess if all her jewelry was ruined she'd want more, I don't know, but I think if my house burned down I'd be more worried about necessities and particularly more upset about my valuables that can't be replaced such as pictures and memorabilia.

It's good though that people helped them out, I can't even imagine losing everything.

Megan LeeAnne --- 5 years ago -

Yeah but that's just not something you ask of people that have already given stuff or want to help. That's something you acquire on your own. At least in my opinion. And with them given stuff to completely furnish the house by others they could use their insurance money to replace stuff like that.

kcsegypt --- 5 years ago -

I completely agree with you. I probably wouldn't even be worried about replacing jewelry, I'd rather make sure I had the necessities that my family and I needed but I guess not everyone values things the same.

Samba --- 5 years ago -

I was just readijg over this and wondering of perhaps it was a page created by someone who was collecting for the families, but not the families themselves, and perhaps that person or persons got the greedy idea of asking for the jewelry? Just a thought. I can't see someone asking for jewelry when they have lost everything. But then again I consider myself to be a logical person. I would be devastated and only accept things that were needed. Shame on the person who asked for jewelry.

Samba --- 5 years ago -

Maybe they were going to take the items and sell them for cash? Which ever way or reason, shame on them.

Megan LeeAnne --- 5 years ago -

Oh it doesn't surprise either way. But they have it set where you have to take the stuff to them and not the family. I know the person that created the page she haggled me to lower the price on something I was selling before and me being the person I am...did. she resold it the next day for more than she bought it. Once I realized it was her is what made me definitely choose to leave the group on top of the jewelry post.

Your Mom --- 5 years ago -

is it slander to post a bookoo warning thread on here?
-no specific names, just enough info to let others beware?

Samba --- 5 years ago -

Oh my Megan! That is so shady and wrong!

Megan LeeAnne --- 5 years ago -

Ona, we don't have the sale rules as bookoo. If you want to post it go ahead, but keep it like you said leaving out names and such.

details --- 5 years ago -

It seems kind of silly to ask. In this economy not many people are likely to have jewelry sitting around they'd be willing to donate. Not nice jewelry at least.

Your Mom --- 5 years ago -

if i posted their bookoo user info would that get me into trouble? i don't have anything specific in mind as of yet anyway..

Megan LeeAnne --- 5 years ago -

Message me what you're wanting to post....when you find something hahaha

Your Mom --- 5 years ago -

Hooah Wifey --- 5 years ago -

King 5 Newscast on the fires

Megan LeeAnne --- 5 years ago -

I haven't heard about Discovery having them at all. When were those? I knew about evergreen, davis hill, and clarkdale. Someone on facebook is trying to say there has been over 10.

Your Mom --- 5 years ago -

the ones i first heard about were in the housing flyer. they posted pictures. they were discovery village if i am not mistaken. i have since thrown out the flyer:p

There was one mths ago off of Garcia in a triplex garage, not in a house. NOt sure about the other one. The fire destroyed the entire contents of all 3 garages. One lady was pretty devastated, as they had moved here recently before the fire and she had all her kids baby photos, momentos, etc boxed up in her garage. Sad. Those are the things you cannot replace and I would be terribly sad to lose ours.

Samba --- 5 years ago -

The triplex fire could have even been as far back as a year ago. but I dont think its been that long. It is close to the older housing at the end of Garcia. If you were driving towards the shoppette on Garcia fro Discovery. Sat back behind the houses in an alley on the left side of Garcia going that way.

Megan LeeAnne --- 5 years ago -

Oh yeah...I remember that now. It has been a while and I was think actual house fires.

Your Mom --- 5 years ago -

oh no!!! does your friend need anything?

Sandra --- 5 years ago -

No this was a while back, she hadn't been there very long, at the time had 3 kids and was preggers too. The fixed it all up and insurance gave them $. A lot of his military stuff was in there too so he had to replace it. They're PCSing soon to Benning.
