Hi,

This is my first time on this website. I really need some guidance and support. I am considering bariatric surgery. I would love to get in touch with people who have done this surgery and hear about their journey. I want to know what people have dealt with as far as the approval process. Right now I am at the beginning of the process... which is the referral stage to even be seen at Madigan. Comments are more than welcome.

I did the sleeve 4 months ago and I love it. I have lost just about 50lbs

I did it in August of 2007 started at 394 and am down to 161lbs. I had a baby as well. The military did a partial tummy tuck where they took the hanging skin off. It is a tool just like anything else. Good luck pm and I send you some pics. I am just starting to love my body as I had the panni surgery in November of last year.

lost 106lbs had RNY Nov. 2011. Still losing but dont really want to lose anymore. I do not regret it for one minute. So many of my issues medically are gone, including my diabetes. I have had 3 back surgeries from blown discs and hallelujah it feels SO much better! I dont have all of the pain anymore. I still experience joint pain and back pain now and then, that was to be expected, but I had no idea it would be this much better! From being in pain for over 11 yrs from my back and joints I truly never thought it could even be improved.

Like Katena stated, it's a tool. You can use it to regain control over your eating habits, and learn. I maintain regular diet and workouts. I even splurge now and then, but I truly dont have those cravings for foods that I loved before. Your body will retrain itself in time if you stay on track. NOw if I eat anything sweet it tastes way too sweet for me to handle. If I eat some things I really enjoyed before, like lemon meringue pie...(which I lived) one or two bites is enough then I get sweetness overload. Good luck.

@Samba I agree I don't have a desire for the sweets as well. I eat oranges which is not good for gas issues. I can not tolerate sugar which is a good thing. I agree that the sugar content and alcohol I take a few sips and am tipsy.
