I had not been buying big things because we were supposed to be PCSing to Germany barely a month after our baby girl is due and now our orders are canceled and I'm finding myself a bit over whelmed. This is our last baby so I am trying to find things nice but used and as affordable (cheap) as possible. I am needing an infant swing and crib mattress and having an issue! I have tried bookoo and the few people on there that are not asking a lot of money won't respond to my emails and the one lady who said I could meet her turned around and sold it right before the time we had set up to meet. Augh! I have looked at the consignment place on Gravely in Lakewood but they wanted $60+ for very used swings. Does anyone have any recommendations for anyplace else to look? I'm not due until Aug 16 so I have some time. Any ideas?

Oh! And a baby monitor...any good places to look for those?

Your Mom --- 11 years ago -

i've got a baby monitor someplace around here. you can have it, you can have our crib mattress but it has a tear on one side. my husband popped it by body slamming it. i can give you a sheet for it too if you are still interested.

I have a crib w/mattress listed on LYS
Have you looked at the thrift stores: on base, goodwill, or st. vincent de paul? There are plenty of swings listed on craigslist.

I HATE that place on gravelly lake. Its not nearly as clean and nice as the one I go to and overpriced. Check out kidz kaboodle. Especially on their 25 cent weekends. I got my baby monitor there for $10 and its a really nice one.

Ond-is your mattress pretty firm? thank you!

I will have to look on Cl I totally forgot about them. I have a crib I just need a mattress. Where is kidz kaboodle?

Be careful when buying a used mattress. If it's not firm enough it increases the risk of SIDS and if it wasn't stored properly the risk of a fungus, bed bugs, etc is pretty high.... even if cleaned before use. When it comes to babies a new mattress would be a much safer route :-) But I'm sure since you've had almost 9 months to prepare/save you could probably get a new one at a good price.

very firm and has a plastic surface. you can look at it if you feel like it.

Its on 6th avenue in Tacoma. It comes up on a GPS if you type it in. They also have a Facebook page. I got my mattress from there. It was a very firm high end Serta mattress that looked like it literally just came out of the package and I ended up paying $20 for it. If something doesn't look/feel brand new they don't accept it or they put it in their quarter sale.

Frankie-yes its not like I'm suprised I'm pregnant and yes I have had time to prepare, the problem was that I thought I was going to be moving to a whole different country with a family of 5 and had a weight limit to adere to so the larger items I was trying to wait until I got there to purchase or go without. I'm just not sure how to take that comment ;)

OND-Thank you very much. I may or may not have one coming from my mother inlaw. I will def let you know. I really apreciate that.

Megan-I will def be checking them out thanks. If I was back home I would know just where to go but here I am at a complete loss!
