What kinds of exercises do you do to strengthen your patience?

How do you overcome not feeling like behaving like an adult, and do so anyway?

What's your pet peeve, and are you doing anything to get over it?

OnARoll --- 12 years ago -

I'm getting impatient easily all of a sudden, and I'm trying to get through it. :/

I'm listening to classical music, got the windows open, and I'm trying to breathe and not hold onto things.

I feel so hormonal, and I'm getting annoyed with myself with how annoyed I'm getting. Haha.

Is it S again?or other stuff?

Deep breaths and going for a walk. I'm very impulsive, with a quick temper. Unfortunately, my husband gets the brunt of it. When I'm frustrated he wants to fix it, and all I need is to be left alone for 5 minutes lol.

I can't listen to classical music unless I'm already feeling calm. I need music I can dance to and sing along with. If I do that, even when I feel like throwing something, I usually snap out of it :) movement and distractions, basically.

I think about what the alternative is. I usually will find it not being worth the failure. The failure meaning losing my patients. I translate losing my patients as failing.
I sometimes ask myself why Im really upset? Because usually being impatient is a sign of something deeper.
I may even find that the root of the problem is somewhat hidden. And sometimes it's something that hurts to much to acknowledge.
Self reflection.

- I separate myself from everyone for a while.

- I call my mom, which can be a hit and miss. Lol. Sometimes she stresses me out more.

- I take a nap. Always seems to put me in a better mood.

- Cuddle with my kids and watch a family movie.

- Cuddle with my animals. Petting animals for at least 10 minutes releases oxytocin (good feelies!!) in both you and your pet, which SHOULD help make you feel less stressed.

- Doing something productive that I have control over, and that produces instant gratification. Mowing the lawn, vacuuming, mopping, dishes, laundry...something. When I'm pissed, my house gets clean. Lol

Haha Maui, that's true. I do clean like a maniac if I'm mad.

I take a moment to breathe in slow through my nose and slow out my mouth. It really helps..if you do it right.
My peeve is clutter. But I always remind myself that my family is more important and the house can wait another day. I want my kids to remember the time I spent with them.

thank you

I usually clean... or organize something... that whole instant gratification thing really helps me, lol.

I also just go on a walk or go sit on the patio with a glass of water or something; somewhere I can be outside and just breathe. Lately, I've been getting pissed off about every little thing and have been doing a lot of "I'm goin' for a walk, I need alone time!" ;)
