Does anyone here cloth diaper? How hard was it to switch over? I do regular diapers now but my son has such sensitive skin, his doctor suggested I try cloth diapering. We have been using a cloth diaper at night and my son and his skin seem to love it much more. I am a SAHM while I am still in college so the keeping up on clean diaper thing would be no problem, and the savings is amazing when I did the math for my LO and #2 due here soon to both be CD'd. Any advice or brand suggestions and experiences would be helpful! Thanks!

I made the switch for my daughter who is still in some what a potty training stage, and her skin as become worse and worse when being sensitive as shes getting older, more active and so on.

And pull ups well are diapers, so I started doing cloth, and love it.

We use them at bed time, and she just thinks their undies, yet no leakage, and no rashes or any reactions.

I use Baby City, because im able to get them at a local childrens shop.

I use regualer detergent, seprate loads, and do a daily wash, since we only have a few pairs.

I have the all in one pocket cloth diapers so I can insert the cloth insert, that I buy of amazon. I can always find a awesome deal, and quick shipping. They have buttons that range from newborn and up, so I can definetly reuse the cover for when we have another baby.

So for our night time potty training, it has been amazing.

I was looking at those all in ones thingking the same thing about being so versatile and using them for both boys as well. I just hate seeing the rashes he gets from time to time with the regular, and so seems to prefer the cloth as well for comfort, he is only 11 months. What Childrens shop do you get yours from Ella?

I used to CD my babies, and then I went to disposables. Now my son is 1, and Im in the process right now of rebuilding my stash (ordered them all, just waiting for them to arrive) I do have 4 at home right now, and I have been making those 4 work until the others come. I don t know WHY I ever went back to disposables. i am happy with cloth.

I cloth diaper- it wasn't difficult to switch. I actually did it the opposite way as some of you. Cloth during the day and disposables at night, he is a heavy wetter and sleeps 12+ hours at night, so it took a while to find a brand that lasted all night ;-)

I mix and match brands, and styles, but I prefer pocket style diapers, and have mostly WAHM brands. My favorites are Mac-a-doodle, which you can find on Facebook. She's in NY but ships here super fast, and has the BEST overnight diapers I've ever used.

I use tide original powder detergent, and wash every day or every other day, it's not difficult. And yes- way way way cheaper.

Yessss. I used a lady out of Olympia (Not sure of the name, shes on 14th Ave NW) (this time, before I purchasd from cotton babies) I spent 176.00 for 4 diapers (One size) and also extra liners, and flushable liners, and also the flip system. I already had 4 one sized diapers and I have 4 more coming. A total of ABOUT 350.00 HOWEVER with THAt being said. I spend 25.00 every week for a BOX of diapers. 100.00 a month, within a few months Ive saved money. I also bought the reusable wipes as well, because we spend a LOT of money on wipes as well.

I went to the Simply Cloth in Olympia today, the lady there was so nice and showed me the difference between the different options and brands. Hubby and I decided on Bumgenius 2.0 All in one cloth diapers to try and bought a few to take for a drive! My son already loves them! I am so hoping this works! How many diapers on average do you keep on hand per kid, the lady at the store said the recommend 18-24 per child, is that what you all use. Keep in mind I will have a new lil one here soon who requires more changes! Thanks!

AwesomeSauce --- 12 years ago -

I have about 20 total, for just my one. I don't change him as often as a newborn, obviously, so it's definitely enough for us :) When I had to change him more frequently when I was first starting, I only had about 10 (prefolds and covers) I just did a wash load every day. I still wash frequently, but I don't have to.

Thats the lady I went to =]

Heading back to Olympia today to get a few more diapers, hope this continues to work, my son is in move with his new super cushy bum! I also want to try the happy heiny brand and the lady at the store said its good to experiment with different brands =)

I haven't read all of the responses, so forgive me if it is repetitive.

I have been cloth diapering for almost a year and I really love it. I use several types of diapers. My favorite are Sunbaby's, GMD workhorse fitteds, BumGenius, and Flips. I also use prefolds, flats and receiving blankets in the Flip covers. I have way too many diapers. It really is cost effective if you get just what you need but there are so many cute ones out there that I have a hard time not wanting to add to my stash. We don't have a store where I am currently, so I can't wait to get there and be able to visit one. I wash every 2-3 days and use small scoop (scoop from the Oxyclean tub)of Tide and we haven't had any issues. Occasionally I add bleach to disinfect and tea tree oil. Blue Dawn dish soap is great to effectively strip them of buildup if you have leaks or get the stinkies.

2Crafty4U --- 12 years ago -

Tide is what I am using per manufacturers' instructions! It seems to be working quite well! Thanks for the tip on stripping I will have to remember that!

2Crafty4U --- 12 years ago -

Has anyone ever had/used the Happy flute brand diapers!? Ive read reviews on sites but wanted to know if any of you have tried them! I hear their inexpensive and work great for daytime use...?

AwesomeSauce --- 12 years ago -

Make sure you're using original tide- nothing with fabric softener! My husband "helped" me do laundry a few times and used the detergent with fabric softener- the diapers all started repelling water and I had to strip them ;-)

CateyPop Im looking to sell my infant prefolds and covers I have 24 cotton prefolds and 4 Thirsties duo wraps. Its what I used with my DS till he was 15lbs.

2Crafty4U --- 12 years ago -

Are Thirsties a pocket diaper or cover? Sorry still learning! Also anyone know where to get a good pail liner and some wet bags!!!???

bluefrg4 --- 12 years ago -

Thirsties DUO wraps are covers. I used those as well during the newborn phase. I use Planetwise pail liners and wet bags. I usually buy those off Amazon or any other online diaper store that has them on sale.

staindingbymyman --- 12 years ago -
