How do all you ladies keep all your husband's gear organized? I'm going crazy trying to find the best way to keep all these overwhelming amounts of gear nice and tidy in such little space!

Eliz --- 13 years ago -

we had lots of tough boxes and then labeled what was in each...
then we just stacked them up in different places depending where we lived. closet, space under stairs, outside storage.

There is no organization of his stuff. It's a big messy pile, so whenever he needs something, he drags it all and lays it out in the garage. He grabs what he needs then stuffs it all back in!

I throw all his army crap into the garage. That's HIS room. As long as I don't have to look at it, and it doesn't affect the natural order of my house, I'm happy.

I we have tuff boxes and plastic tubs. I fold what can be folded, categorize the stuff as best I can, then into the garage it goes. Some stuff has no real place, so it just gets thrown in with whatever.

We use large tupperware also.

All the stuff he uses daily/weekly... in a pile on his arm chair in our room.

everything else...in the garage!

I'm jealous of all of you. No garage for me :(

I know the feeling! My husband has 4 issues of everything, so I swear it is coming out of our ears. The easiest thing for us to do was have a 3 tough boxes for the 3 set of gear he only uses on either a deployment or during night flights etc. The stuff he uses daily is in his closet in the house so it's available whenever. The other stuff is in thr tuff boxes stacked up so say he needs multicams, he goes and gets the one tuff box with multicams in it and he's good. It makes packing for deployments much easier too because it's all in one place.

One thing I would suggest is make and inventory of EVERYTHING you have. Especially if you are going to keep any of it in storage because if it gets damaged or stolen then you need to be able to prove what all you had.

This is an impeccably good idea. Keep both a pictorial record and a written list of all the stuff. You'll be glad when it's time to turn everything in.

We do the garage thing too, there is no organizing, lol. If we didn't, I'd probably buy storage containers and stick them in a closet.

My hubby has a lot of the garage for his ta50 stuff, and then I have a little of my own, all in the garage. At this particular duty station, being he is more cadre for school than normal soldier he gets very little. Of course through the 20+ years he has got a lot that doesn't make sense. I just let him have his space and I have mine, stuff that wont be unpacked until we get a forever home.
