So anyways, As I was cleaning this morning, I was thinking about more ways to cut corners to cut costs. As I picked up my dish soap, I realized there's a lot of things I'm too picky about to "Downgrade".
For example
I ALWAYS buy Dawn dish soap. Why: Because nothing cuts grease like dawn without buying an "extra" cleaner, and it doubles as excellent flea shampoo for my pets.
Frenches Mustard Why: Just can't beat it.
Hidden Valley brand Ranch Dressing Why: Other brands of ranch I've tried have just tasted nasty to me.
Pantine Pro-V Shampoo and Conditioner Why: I'm very anal about my hair, and if it doesn't feel right, I'm not happy.
Duck Tape brand Duct Tape. Why: Off brands don't work well for a survival kit. lol.
Snap-on and Stanley hand tools Why: We're very hard on our tools, and with Snap-on, if it ever breaks, we get it replaced for free.
Do you have anything that you just can't bring yourself to "downgrade"?
Im with you on the ranch and dawn.Im also particular about my laundry detergent, we use all free and clear.why-sensative skin. invisaglass, kitchen aid small appliances, mccormick steak seasoning, barilla lasagna noodles(no precooking) diet dr pepper, finish dishwasher tablets(but i do try others with coupons)Nike shoes that work with my chip thingy that talks to my ipod.
My shampoo is over $20 a bottle. We buy organic condiments so they are pricey. I wish I was, simple like you. However we will not pay for cable or flashy TVs. We pay cash for stuff. I guess mine would be organic products.
I tried other dish soap, went back to dawn. Can't do others. For my husband, I have to use Tide with Febreze or he gets mad and said his clothes don't smell good enough after they're washed lol. I dont like mustard, or salad dressing of any sort, so that's not an issue for me :) My soap is dove unscented for sensitive skin- because I have sensitive skin! I'm really not too loyal to many brands, I'll try others, but if I don't like it then I don't like it.
Kens rocks for sure, I used to find it where the sodas were at the commissary or like MH said, by the dressings. It's much cheaper for a lot more and tastes great!
Newmans own original basalmic vinegrette Dove gentle exfoliating bar soap Chapstick original Bestfoods/Hellmans mayo Crest toothpaste Vlasic baby dill pickles Campbells cream of mushroom and cream of chicken
I love Kens dressing and products. I have started using making my own detergent and it saves a ton. It washes awesome with 6 boys and better on my kids skin.
Tide detergent (skin irritation is not fun) and I can not stand cheap toliet paper either... I wish I could I mean we are wiping a crappy place (pun intended) and flushing money basically down the toliet, however I am left with the fear that the cheap stuff leaves no guarantee that all five fingers will make it out alive... :-)
I will not buy cheap diapers! I hate how thin they are, Huggies all the way for this house! I AGREE! And cheap wipes... The walmart brand isn't so bad, but I've bought some that are just as bad as cheap toilet paper.
Nike or other big name sneakers. Have tried the generic ones from all sorts of places. Don't like them, they don't compare. That being said, I try to only buy the good ones on clearance or sale.
Im not really picky about name brands except for condements off brands just dont taste right. I did always use all F&C but sense we are doing cloth diapers we use Charlies soap now. Oh I know Tropicana OJ I can stand the store version or minute maid they are just acidy.
I always go back to dawn. Tide for our clothes. Extra soft charmin. We dont really buy store brand ever, because Ive had not so good experiences, but if i had to; I would not compromise on those.
