Pros/Cons....anything would be great! Post housing/Post life?? Thanks ladies! :)

FoleysWife --- 14 years ago -

My cousin goes there often for training (i know not the same as living there) but he loved it, and I guess its pretty close to nashville...when are you going there? Im going to louisville/Ft Knox in a month :D

IMMoving --- 14 years ago -

Hey girl, we are not going soon enough, let me tell ya! Im so homesick and just want to be close to home. Hubby and I are both from Indiana, so that would be heavenly close. I went on campbell underground and its like a ghost town and NO DRAMA! How will I ever make it? Blahhh! LoL

IMMoving --- 14 years ago -

Hubby is still trying to get orders....so its gonna be a minute, sadly.

brenda --- 14 years ago -

My hubby goes tdy there a lot, he said the base isn't the greatest as far as amenities, but he really likes the area. I have heard schools are good. Cost of living is MUCH better, and the outer lying ares are FILLED with neat things to do. If we ever pcs'd that is prolly where we would pic but we want to stay here cause we are close to home :)

Oh he also said traffic is not as bad, but I think that is true for a lot of places, there just isn't very many gates here, at hood there was like a million ways to get on, even the reserve here is choked down to only a few entrances.

IMMoving --- 14 years ago -

I hate this place, sorry. LoL I haven't liked it much since we got here almost three years ago. I would rather be back at Ft Bragg then here!

FoleysWife --- 14 years ago -

AWE! :( I know how you feel!! I can't wait to get outta WA! Im from So cal and hubby is from Louisville...hes going to school for 2 months and Im going to KY to get outta here! No clue where we are going to end up, but I will cry if we get WA! lol...but I lived in MI for like 4 yrs, so I like the east coast and south! lol

I hope you get orders soon! :D

IMMoving --- 14 years ago -

Dear God, please! ;-)

lowrie05 --- 14 years ago -

i was born and raised in the ft campbell area actually that is where i also met my hubby it is ok for the housing there i would get a place off post if at all possible it is alot better there r great apartments there very few housing there and the wait list for housing is he!! there and do u have kids? if it is just u and hubby depends on what kind of lifestyle u live what i mean by that is are u biker material or country or more hip hop? depends what yall r into there are quite a few biker bars there locally i do suggest if at all possible go to a place called rookies one night on like a sat i think go see a guy named micheal allen perform if u like country music and also they have great jello shots if u want more info feel free to message me

My niece lives in the Fort Campbell area, and likes it. She and her husband bought a house there.

One of my sisters was stationed there in the 80's, and got married there. That's the last time I had been in the area. I hear it's pretty nice, though.

I would love to go to a different climate than this one. I'm a true Okie (though born in Kansas), and I wouldn't mind going back to Fort Sill. I just don't like all the rain and cold here. My allergies go haywire, because I'm allergic to all of these dang trees! I can't even go out in our back yard without breaking out in hives...that's sad.

I hope you are able to get orders soon, to go there, or wherever else you would like to go!

FoleysWife --- 14 years ago -

My allergies go haywire

i dont have allergies until that pollen kicks up! all those little fuzzy white fluff balls flying around freaking kill me!! I can't imagine how you feel during that time!

Julie --- 14 years ago -

I am on orders to pcs there and excited. I already called to check on housing and they have recently built a lot so the waiting lists are not bad. They told me I would be able to get a new home with in a week of my arrival.

Glad to hear the underground for them is not full of drama as a couple of months ago it was. I went there asking questions and got sh!t for replies. people responded but nothing positive.

Jessica --- 14 years ago -

We were stationed t fort campbell for 4 years before going to fort lewis, that was the big mistake we ever make was going to lewis.lol. Fort Campbell was the best place i have ever been to, my husband got med borded out and right before he was sent to med bored we were trying to go back there. Clarksville is awsome the housing is O.K it is way better than lewis (imo) We lived in stryker village 3 bedroom house and (between gate 3 and 4) and everything was close and the hospital was right in front of the housing division. The people are way nicer and it is way cheaper. Oh and dont get me started on how good the schools are on post (not so sure about off post) But fort campbell high school is one of the top schools in the country. I would highly recomend fort campbell. If you have any other questions let me know i will answer them.

kimmieg00 --- 14 years ago -

it was our first duty station so its been a while but i loved it there. the post not so much but the area around i love. nashville is only like 45 mins away.

when we were there they were redoing all of the housing. the schools are great, the base is super easy to get around. I would live on base if possible but off base i would stay tiny town area in clarksville or out the back gates by the horse stables. i dont remember the # .
stay out of hoptown! (hopkinsville KY)

IMMoving --- 14 years ago -

Oh God, I love all of you and your comments! As I was reading I had a smile ear to ear! I can't wait to move!! Hence my new name! lol Thank you all and any more information would be greatly appreciated!

Julie-What neighborhoods were you looking to move to on post and whats the wait times for E5 with two kids?

Jessica-What are the nicest, newest and cleanest neighborhoods there? I have heard that they are all ghetto? Is this true? You say that they are nicer than Lewis, hope so!

Lowrie-We are not biker kind of people! All my family is though! Haha! We are more reserved and old foegies! LOL Thanks for the tip though!

Shutter-I hear the surrounding areas are gorgeous! I love Nashville and country music so I think it would be a perfect fit for me!

IMMoving --- 14 years ago -

Thanks Kim! We are more than likely opting to live on post! In our years of experience its just the better way to go! No hoptown for me! lol

FoleysWife --- 14 years ago -

E5 with two kids?

sounds like us! :) how old are your kids? ours are 5yrs (girl-Ava) and 4 months (boy-Ethan)

IMMoving --- 14 years ago -

My nuggetts are 16 month girl and 3 y.o. boy! Noah & Abigail

Jessica --- 14 years ago -

the only ghetto area i remember was old lee village but they were tearing those houses down to build brand new ones. And lapoint was not so nice and there was one that was inbetween those 2 but i cant remember the name. The horse stables are by gate 10 what was considered the back gate. If you go out gate 10 there is some really nice places back there i lived back there for a little bit off of lafeyette. What is your husbands MOS?

IMMoving --- 14 years ago -

I would love to live by horse stables, are these on post? And around housing? Thats neat! My hubbys MOS is 92W, Water Treatment Spc. He used to be a 62B, Heavy Equipment Repair...or a grease monkey! LoL He is already Airborne and was in the 82nd for three years. He wants to go Air Assault. And he wants Ft Campbell. He is talking with his branch manager about it all. Im praying!

FoleysWife --- 14 years ago -

Noah & Abigail

LOve it!!! :D

IMMoving --- 14 years ago -

He is in a support battalion and he supports 2-3.

Jessica --- 14 years ago -

http://campbellcrossingllc.com/ there is the website so you can see the houses they are even nicer than i remember.

IMMoving --- 14 years ago -

Yeah I looked at that site and it wasn't showing pics of the inside of them...booo! LOL

Jessica --- 14 years ago -

im not really sure what kinda unit he would be in.lol. My husband was a 13D(field artillery) and 92Y (supply guy). The stables are right outside the gate and if you turn right by the stables there is a little crick right there with ducks and if you go a little further there is a lake. It is extremely nice. And dont get me started on all the walmarts.haha. There are like 5 within a 20 mile radius.

IMMoving --- 14 years ago -

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, now your talking my language! :D

Jessica --- 14 years ago -

oh and i forgot about the PX (which was getting built onto when i left) is suppost to be the largest in the united states. The commisary is pretty big also and it is all in a little area. I can go on and on about how much i love it there. And that is why when my husband graduates from collage he is going to try and get a job with the army so we can move back down there.lol.

kimmieg00 --- 14 years ago -

i lived in lee village when we first moved there but they tore it down and its all new now. its E1-E4 or at least it was. then we moved to pierce village which i loved my house in! we had 3 beds garage fenced in backyard and lived on a culdisac. I think it was dolan st? anyway the house was great probably my favorite on post house we have ever lived in

Jessica --- 14 years ago -

pierce was really nice. And the handy man guys are so nice. The only thing i hated was you have to mow your own grass on post but they did have a little place over by lee village that you could rent them for (not really rent they are free).

Jessica --- 14 years ago -
