Smoking is so disgusting....why must my family have to tolerate your disgusting habit!

proudjagwife --- 13 years ago -

smoking isn't banned in housing unless you live in Town Center, maybe move there if it is such an issue. Crying babies are driving me crazy but I don't tell the neighbors their kids can't scream all day and night

MASC --- 13 years ago -

i dont mind it if people are nice about it and realize that we cant all tolerate smoke.

what ticks me off is people that throw their cigarette butts everywhere!

MissyhatesLewis --- 13 years ago -

I really hate that my husband has to walk behind the house far away from other houses because someone does not like his cig smoke. He works 16 hour days and if he feels like smoking at his home (which he pays a lot for) then he should be able to do so. Yes cig smoke stinks, but he is always outside doing it. Your car stinks, and your kids stick, but I don't tell you to stop. Ugh so sick of people feeling like smokers are under them!

chefjennifer --- 13 years ago -

why do we have to tolerate everything people due in public? cuss, fart, agressive drivers, steal, bully, and the vast number of other offences my husdand fights for there right to do. welcome to america!

MissyhatesLewis --- 13 years ago -

I would rather have cig smoke smell than fart smell....haha my sons is awful.

chefjennifer --- 13 years ago -

LMAO! oops.

MissyhatesLewis --- 13 years ago -

Hahaha :-)

wootage --- 13 years ago -

I don't feel like smokers are "under" me and I don't mind it out in public when we're going from place to place because I can get away from it. But when it's blowing into my window and stinking up my house, yes, I mumble under my breath about the smell. More power to you if its something you chose to do, but the rest of us don't have to happy about it when it's coming into our windows. My husband is allergic to it (causes an asthma attack) and he works 16 hour days and if he feels like spending time in his home (which he pays a lot for) then he should be able to do so without risking an allergic reaction.
For the record, I also complain when they mow the lawn and use the blower and the stuff blows into my windows because I forget to close them. Do I run out there and scream at people? No, but I'm allowed to quietly complain.

MissyhatesLewis --- 13 years ago -

If your hubby gets that sick off of cig smoke, how does he deploy with all that crap that's in the air over there? Smoke bombs, gas chamber, car fumes, ect...? I have been over there pleny of times and the air sucks over in that area.

wootage --- 13 years ago -

He gets sick, needs inhalers, steroids, ends up on antibiotics multiple times per deployment, etc.
In fact after his last deployment he had to have surgery because of the reaction his body had to all of that crap.

MissyhatesLewis --- 13 years ago -

Damn that really sucks! I would get mad too. Poor guy.

wootage --- 13 years ago -

Yeah, it's not a lot of fun. Especially since he's expected to need the same surgery after this deployment. But he chose the career! So it's his own fault. LOL!

DirtyBetty --- 13 years ago -

Ditto! Between my husband, my kids, and the dog some days I feel like wearing a gas mask around the house lol!

MissyhatesLewis --- 13 years ago -

Yeah it is his own fault, but that doesn't make it easier. That's the worst feeling ever, not being able to breathe. :-(
Dirtybetty...men + dogs= yuck. My dog just leaks stinky air. I need to lock my son and the rest of the smelly folks in a room together. Lol

ugh smoking is disgusting. I asked one of the equity maintenance men to leave my house this week because he reeked so bad. When your neighbors smoke there is not much you can do about it besides vent about it I don't see what the big deal is with everyone jumping down the posters throat! I thankfully have ac's so I don't have to open my windows and seep in all the neighbor's gross habits. I really can't stand the smell of smoke. I don't go to bars, I don't allow smoking in my house. When we are at a friends and people are smoking I stay inside or stear clear of it. I really can't stand when people smoke around kids and see no issue with it, I see that as child abuse.

babycakes --- 13 years ago -

My suggestion to you is if you dont like it get a ac unit, Atleast they are smoking outside cause I can promise you that if they smoked inside it would be a whole lot worse because it would come throught the walls and the vents. people black ball smokers like they are crack addicts. Yes you a right to vent but they have a right to smoke and I am sure there are things you do as a nieghbor that drives them crazy too. It come with living on post and living so close to eachother. I have great nieghbors on one side and snooty nieghbors on the other, it stinks that we all just can tget along since we live so close together but the funny thing is bikering is a side effect of living so close together LOL.

NadaSuperstar --- 13 years ago -

I hate living next to fighting neighbors...ones who don't pick up dog poo, unsupervised kids, etc. It comes with living in close quarters.

babycakes --- 13 years ago -

don't pick up dog poo

This drives me batty!

someonesangel --- 13 years ago -

WHAT?! I am a smoker, and no one knows it! My in-laws found out after 4 YEARS because they finally caught me.. and my mother-in-law has a nose like you can't believe! It is ridiculous to say you can smell it from someone else's house. Absolutely ridulous. Leave the "good" smokers alone. I smoke at night after my kids go to bed, never in the house, and let me tell you, you wouldn't know it if you met me!

gtaylor --- 13 years ago -

I smoked for fifteen years and have been quit for three. My mom lived with me the first two of those years that i quit and she only smoked four a day always outside and i will tell u i could smell it very strongly. They say ex smokers are more sensitive to the smell idk...im just thankful i was able to quit. There is a time or two once a month when stress is high that i think i woild like one then i just remember the smell and thank god its only a fleeting thought. We have ac also but i choose to open my windows cuz its nice to b able to do so (without huge azz mosquitos or 100% humidity coming in)...Lol. Our neighbors smoke and i can tell when they go out back to do so so i shut my door for ten min open back up and there done. I personally know how hard it is to quit...i at least respect my neighbor for going outside to smoke instead of doing so inside with her children.

Eliz --- 13 years ago -

my husband smokes and he quit for his whole block leave after his deployment. as soon as he went back (maybe a few days later) he was smoking again. and when he has a long weekend or leave he smokes less. he really thinks when he gets out he will stop.

it breaks my heart that he quit and was doing so well and the stress got to him :(

my husband dips when he is deployed... I hate it! It's unhealthy, expensive and nasty. He used to dip when we met and I told him I wouldn't marry him unless he quit and he did cold turkey and did great. He started again during his first deployment when it was soooooooo bad in Iraq and was able to quit cold turkey again the minute he landed in the states. I am glad he can quit so easy but I wish he had a different vice like biting his nails or something! lol

Eliz --- 13 years ago -

rofl kathryn i was so anti-smoking he lied to me when we first started dating. i found a lighter in his car and he was like "oh that's so and so's"

it was so obvious that he was lying! he puts up with my crap, so i guess i will put up with his :D

PrincessaME --- 13 years ago -

I hate living down wind from them. They will have like 4 of them out back smoking And if the wind blows I need to take the kid inside and shut the doors or all of my house smells that nasty. Asked them to maybe smoke on the side of their house. Nope I guess I get to love second hand smoke............

Kathryn --- 13 years ago -

Oye when I lived in Parkway is was really bad. Out of the 8 houses in my unit we were the only non smokers and even with the windows closed my house smelled like malboro reds. Of course in Parkway my windows didn't seal properly so I had snow in my house during the winter of 2008, it sucked.

limey --- 13 years ago -

someonesangel i want to know your "secret smoker" tricks!

Lewismomma3 --- 13 years ago -

I hated that about living on post too. Sometimes I would be outside on my porch enjoying a book and some coffee and all of a sudden I'm down-wind of the next door neighbors cigarette and I had to go in to keep from puking. Ugh...

Plus she smoked like a chimney and was ALWAYS outside rain/snow/wind/hail. I hated only being able to enjoy my backyard when the wind was blowing in the right direction. lol

And to anyone who thinks that smokers are treated badly by being forced to smoke outside and in certain areas....oh well.

When you are doing something that is dangerous to everyone close enough to you, you need to be by yourself when you do it (or at least only around people who are older and do not care if their bodies are being polluted by the second hand smoke.) I feel ZERO sympathy for the fact that it makes smoking harder for a smoker. I do sympathize with having an addiction that is both costly and deadly though.

brittney --- 13 years ago -

im a smoker and have no problems smoking outside i think its rude to smoke near people who dont smoke. but on the same note people are being condemned in this thread for smoking outside. they have a right to enjoy thier back yard just as much as nonsmokers. i wont smoke in my house because i hate the smell in my house and my kids dont need to be around it but i shut my windows when i go out so it doesnt get in my house its a simple solution. i dont see how smoking outside makes it harder on a smoker but thats just my opinion.

AdmiralHalsey --- 13 years ago -

I don't smoke buuuuuut well I hate living next to people with kids but nothing I can do about it! I work a graveyard shift and have to put up with screaming kids and barking dogs while I try to sleep. But on the other hand, I don't have to pay rent, worry about yard work, pay utility bills...and I have a beautiful home...soooo...I can't complain...
