I have NO CLUE when it comes to stuff like this, but...are you allowed to have weapons in your home while living in on post housing?

If so...are you allowed to have automatic weapons in your home? I would assume not, but there is a great reason why I am asking.

AND last but not least...are you allowed to have tons of live ammo, loaded clips, and tons of weapons in your home?

I don't know about the automatic thing. But you have to register your guns. Also when you're driving through the gates they have to be unloaded and secure, like in a case or the trunk. Not loaded in a holster on your hip or anything.

Yes you can have certain guns, automatics I'm thinking no. There is a number on post you can call to get all the info. Lots of ammo? I wanna say no to that as well. A lot of times they take the banned weapons and keep it for you unless you are needing it for something. A friend of ours had theirs stolen so idk if I'd do that either.

I asked my husband and he said no we are not allowed automatic weapons in housing. Yes we are allowed guns but they need to be registered at waller hall or provost marshall. You can have ammo but he believes that there is a state law as to how much. Definitely not a stock pile.

You can have personal weapons and ammo, But they have to be registered, and depending on the kind, they may have the unit keep it in their arms room, along with the ammo.

Something I saw on the news just a minute ago made me think about thisÂ…doesn't WA have a ban on fully automatic weapons for personal use anyway?

Frankie --- 11 years ago -

State laws, from what I've heard, do not matter on Military installations. Could be wrong though.

im not sure about the legality, but are you asking because you're wanting to tattle on someone?

Samba --- 11 years ago -

Umm tattling is not my concern. We are adults here, right? There are major concerns that are legitimate, but they happen yo be moving off post.( med boarding out due to psych eval) I am still a bit concerned no matter where they move. He and the wife are ticking time bombs. Knowing them both and their issues/behaviors, this can't be a good thing. He actually should have never been able to enter the military.

If you feel someone could be harmed and they've already been seen as unstable id most definitely let someone know. That's a bit scary.

I've got mixed feelings. I think that murder could happen without a specific type of weapon. Murder can happen with bare hands, a rock, a kitchen knife, a legal gun, or a pillow. If you think that someone's in danger the types of guns they have makes zero difference. I think that if it were me I would not use bad laws to do something good. I'd try to find the good laws to accomplish what I felt was right.

When you go and register your weapons, make sure you bring the receipts with you, or something that has the serial number. As far as your gun being in the car and going on/off post, In Washington, your car is considered an extension of your home - so when you're off-post, you can have a gun, unloaded and separate from the ammo (meaning the ammo and the gun are far enough away from each other that you couldn't load it without some trouble). If you have a concealed carry permit, the gun can be loaded.

On post, though, you can't have any loaded guns in your car. I'd say that if you leave post with it, bring the registration sheet with you when you do, just in case your car gets searched on the way back in, and let the guy searching your car know you have a gun in the vehicle before the search. Always good to be safe rather than sorry! :)
