Anyone ever done/been to a child's birthday party at Home Depot?
We are looking for a place to have my daughter's party and this came up in a search. I think you can only have them on workshop days? Which are the first Saturdays of every month for us.

No, but that would be really cool.

My husband actually just went there and talked to them yesterday. The closest one to us is pretty new, so they've never done a party. Said it would be no problem and are willing to do it the weekend we wanted to do her party. If they do it like the other Home Depots, the kids get to do the workshop craft and they get one of the little Home Depot aprons. I've heard they do the parties for free, which is one of the major reasons we chose them. Can't afford the parties we normally give her thanks to the shut-down. This should be really fun though, and each kid will have something they created to take home instead of the usual cheap party trinkets.
My daughter wants a pinata full of toothbrushes, so now I can afford to provide that. LOL!! I'll have to sneak some candy in there too or she might not have any friends afterwards. :P

that's awesome to know!

LOL, pinata full of toothbrushes. My dentist father would be proud. ;)

I have no idea how much they are, but I know Michael's used to (like, back when I was a kid...) do birthday party craft stuff. Personally, I think doing something at Home Depot would be a lot more fun, though, especially if your daughter is inviting both girls and boys.

Oh wow, never heard of it, but man I wish they had this when my kids were little, both my son and daughter love building things!!

I tried to look into Michael's. It is about a 90 minute drive for us to get to the nearest one. I don't think their crafting room is big enough and looks like they charge. I don't quite understand their online booking thing.

We are doing family and friends, and siblings of friends. There will probably be quite a few boys there. My daughter isn't picky about her friends. As long as they are well behaved and have good personal hygiene she is fine with either gender.
She likes doing a lot of things that aren't typically in the "girl" box. For example, she collects worms. :)

Shelley, I hear they do it for people of all ages! :D

My daughter's party was Saturday. It probably depends on your host, but we loved it as did all the guests. I would highly recommend Home Depot parties to anyone looking for something different than the usual kiddie party.

Our host was only supposed to work until a certain time, but since we were waiting on guests that didn't show up we started a bit late. Instead of telling us to pack it up and go when it was time for her to go home she asked her boss if she could stay late and even helped with the clean up of decorations. Love people like that!

Can you give examples of what you did....

Uh oh, going to have to look into this now, thanks for the info!!

The kids got an apron when they arrived, then they did a craft. My daughter made a little heart basket. They also had wooden tool boxes, some kind of sports game and pirate ships. The party crafts probably depend on what they have on hand at the time.
We took a break to go into the garden center to smack the pinata around(which I supplied). Then back in to paint their crafts.
It was like their free craft day they do once a month for kids, only not rushed. I think this depends on which location you go to. Some only do parties on craft days.
Other than that, we were allowed to do food, cake and gifts like a normal party. The kids all had fun and got to go home with their apron and something they made on top of all the goodies I sent them home with. :)

I wish I had considered this. I have all my son's invitations signed and sealed in front of me. This Saturday my home will be turned upside down.
Im worried about my brother "helping" out.

If anyone has seen Billy madison, when Norm Mcdonald is hosing down the kid at the party..... ....yeah I am nervous.

Yikes! I don't like people in my house, especially large groups of children. I would probably be the one with the hose out. HAHA!
