Anybody have experience with these schools. I am looking at the Masters program in Education. Honest opinions or questions. Any schools you have experience with. I obtained my Associates at Colorado Tech and BS at Ashford ok experience just not happy with their administration departments.

I went though Phoenix, terrible experience. One of my classes said I did zero work and failed me (I had done every assignment and every test. It took 6 weeks to get my grade changed (to an A) then when I transferred to a Brick school all my UoP classes became electives I was so mad, it was over priced and worthless. I'm still paying my student loans from them.

@MamaSweeps thank you.

I just completed my Masters at Kaplan, took less than 2 years and I took 2 semesters off so I could have completed it sooner. It was a cheaper university and does work well with military (students and finance). The books were well priced (at school and online) and the university only focuses on the path toward the degree you choose. I was never pressured or asked to take additional classes or change my degree plan. They told me upfront what classes I needed to get my degree. It is SELF PACED and a lot of SELF STUDY, so if you need the classroom environment to focus I would not recommend it. It you have the time, patience, and focus it is not so bad. Good luck

@A1125604UU This sounds good to me. Thanks for the info. I am leaning towards Kaplan I am looking into Education. I know several people that go and have heard good things. Thanks.

As far as what I know, Phoenix isn't an accredited school which can make things tough later! Good luck!

Look for REGIONALLY accredited schools, versus "nationally" accredited. The credits are easier to transfer in the future, should you need to.

I had the most terrible experience at UOP. Not only did I have to escalate at least 4 times when professors did not respond to me to help on feedback, or information I needed to complete my projects, but I also had to escalate incidents 3 times when they just neglected to grade assignments that were not late and then gave me horrible final grades, or grades or zeros on the assignments that were there. I was also oart of the lawsuit that sued UOP for taking advantage of Military member and thier dependants. They stole my MyCaa money and never paid. This was part of the reason why MyCaa changed the way they disperse their funding. It took me almost 3 years to get reimbursed for my money I paid out of pocket which was nearly 4 grand overcharged!!! I would be very hesitant if I were you. Also goodle or youtube the dateline investigation on UOP and their student reviews and experiences. They are far below acceptable. I transfered out to CTu and I have never once had an issue with financial aid mistakes, and I think with the 3 yrs I have been with CTU I had one instructor not respond and had to be escalated. it was handled immediately. I do not recall any other negative experiences with CTU and I completed my AA with them, as well as now finishing up my BAS.

I have 4 friends that have their degrees with Kaplan and not one has told me of any negative experience. i have actually heard great things about that school. Good luck to you. I know we all experience different things and it's tough to find a school that you can be happy with 100%. I hope everything works out for you. ;)

@ Samba I was really impressed with the advisor I spoke with.

Samba --- 11 years ago -

That's great. It's one thing for us to pay all that money to go to school, but it's another to get out of it what we intend, and to have the support we deserve while furthering our education. I am sure it will all work out. ;)
