I am not sure what to think. Apparently, these racist comments were made 30 years a go. Where is the proof that she is a mouthy racist. It's not like co workers, business partners or family are calling her out. I tend to doubt these things when those that know her best don't support the claims. Cause they could and would stand to make great money from it. 

She may have got cut from a few things but she definitely will not be broke. Her restaurants do pretty great for themselves.

Whether she made it or not doesn't matter, everyone says stupid stuff. I bet over half over people in the industry have made a racist remark here and there... they just haven't gotten caught yet. I could care less what she said. I'm just bummed I won't be able to find anything new she might have come out or watch her shows. 

She did apologize though, so she admitted it was said... so the claims are true. just harshly handled. 

I honestly think the whole thing is rediculous. Someone is upset with her and taking this to an extreme. Considering her generation and where she was born and raised....I just think she made some ignorant comments and learned from them. She didn't get to where she is by being racist or nasty. I support her. 

With all the people standing by her, of all races, I don't think she is a racist at all. Yes she did say something out of line a LONG time ago, but she is human and we all make mistakes we wish we could have a do over about. I hate that I wont be able to watch her shows or find her stuff in the stores any longer.

I read the deposition. She admitted to using the "n" word a long time ago when she was describing a man who held a gun to her head while he was robbing a bank she worked at. I wouldn't judge my worst enemy for anything they said following a situation like that.

I remember when her show started airing. It was when Wolfgang Puck was making poached quail eggs and she was just this old granny in her down home kitchen, with Gertie the dog at her feet, making fried chicken and biscuits. I've loved her since the beginning because she always came across as real. I have a friend stationed at Hunter who has ran into her twice in public in Savannah. She remembered her the second time, and both times she was genuinely nice. I get that it was a business decision, but at the same time she did a lot in terms of ratings for FN and brought in a whole different set of viewers that otherwise probably wouldn't have watched that channel at all. I think the way they threw her under the bus is shameful. And seriously, some of the comments I've read on all these articles floating around are ridiculous. Racism goes both ways and there are plenty of people out there guilty of worse on all sides.

But is she going broke any time soon? Highly doubt it. We're going to Savannah in a few weeks and when my Mom called to get a reservation at The Lady & Sons they were booked solid for the day we wanted to go. 

I think that using a slur is never a good idea; but to her it's the same as saying "midget" instead of "little person".

Miss Deen is from the south and this happened 30 years ago. I remember hearing my grandma use that word once when I was little. Things were different back then. 

^plus zimmerman is hispanic and i have never heard a hispanic person called a cracker.
