My daughter is almost 3 and I want to put her in a gymnastics or dance class so she can interact with kids her age. Is there anywhere on post that does things like that? Or any recommendations on where to take her? Any advice is much appreciated :) Thanks

I looked into this when my daughter was the same age and most of the dance studios off post want you to participate with them. Our friends daughter went to Yelm Gymnastics in Yelm and loved it.

Skies on post offers both. My boys did gymnastics for a long time and they LOVED it. The coaches are great with the kids and they have a blast. I know a couple girls that are in the dance classes and they really enjoy it also. The only issue is that you need to sign up right away because they fill up fast. The classes open up every month on the 1st to enroll for the fallowing month.

My daughter did these on-post. The thing I didn't like about the ballet classes there was they don't do a recital, so theyre not really working towards anything. Other than that it was nice... until some of the kids decided to start picking on her and my daughter no longer enjoyed going to class.

I think they only do one a year or something like that. A friend of mines daughter is in dance and they did a little mini one just for parents. I thought I had heard something about a bigger one because a couple of the moms were talking about how they were not going to be here for it. I may be wrong though.

Really? My daughter decided to stop going around March last year. They did have a short thing they brought parents in to watch a few times but never heard about a real recital.

I may have misunderstood but I'm pretty sure they had one that they do but my friend was not going to be here for it. I know they did a mini one for parents for sure though because I was there for that one lol

Skies offers a class called Flipz for Kidz, it is on a bus that has been gutted out and is like a traveling gym. My 3 year old son LOVES it. The only thing is that it is only 30 mins long, so you basically just sit in the car and wait for them. Fine for me...It's amazing at what I can get done in the car! The negative is that you don't really get to watch them, so I am just guessing that he is interacting with the other kids. :)
We did Wiggles and Giggles. they say 1-5 but at 3 he seemed older then most of the kids there. That is basically free play in the gym, with structured circle time at the end. My son only played with me.
We also did Parent and Toddler Gymnastics and that was very structured, follow the path and do certain tricks at each spot. We liked it, but again no interaction with the other kids.

Look on the website-they have tons of other stuff!

This is not related to finding classes, but is related to 3 year olds...

Put that glass of milk down and get ready to laugh your buns off!

My daughter did Flipz for a month. She didn't care much for it. I think she wanted more of a structured learning class. This seemed like play time, where they made the rounds in the bus a few times. Which is fine if you're just looking to get your kid moving and interacting with others.

I think the teacher was a bit overwhelmed at times too. It was a lot of kids for one person to deal with.

Do they run the heat on the bus while they're in there? I know you work up a sweat but seems like it would still be a bit cold in the winter, which is one of the reasons we stopped.

There have always been 2 teachers when we've gone. He is going this month and then it's been on and off the last year, so maybe I've just been lucky.
We haven't had any problems about it being too cold.
MASC- Seems like the Parent and Toddler Gymnastics would be your best fit, have you given that a try yet?

there's someone on bookoo offering free classes i think, but the scheduling does not work out for our family... just an option

MASC --- 12 years ago -

My daughter is actually 6 now. She was doing Flipz when she was 4, almost 5. We only allow one "sport" activity and she has chosen ballet. Our feeling about this is if we are paying, shes going to be learning or working towards a goal. "Play time" is not something we are going to pay for.

When she was going I saw 2 teachers occasionally, but only one stayed the entire time. They may have just started it or trying out a different schedule. They were running between the bus and the Skies building because the class afterwards or before (cant remember which) was in the building.
