I just had my 20 week ultrasound and the midwife said my baby's kidneys are dilated (they were measuring 3.6mm). I've done some research, but would like to hear from real moms. Should I be concerned? What were the outcomes for those whose babies had dilated kidneys? (My quad test was negative and I get another ultrasound next week.) Thank you. 

I had this with my 3rd and delievered a healthly baby boy 11 years ago. The doc was not concerned. I still have issues with my kidneys/bladder but i am the mom of 6 boys. 

Katena, was it you or your baby that had it? I wonder if it is really common as I read online because my first child didn't have this. Do you know what causes it? 

I really never recieved an answer and had it with only him. It was me not the baby. He was my 3rd pregnancy. I have always had issues with my kidneys/bladders.

At my 20 week scan they found my baby's kidney dialated to a 4.6.they scared me and said it was a soft marker for down syndrome.I went back a week later and his kidney was normal. I also did an ammnio and it turned out fine. I have heard from other mothers not to worry to much. Good luck I hope everything turns out fine.

Oh kat13...just curious did you do a quad/cvs test at 12 weeks?

Yes I had all the test done and everything came back normal. Lol wow yeah I'm from the fort belknap res. I'm assiniboin Sioux. Well its nice to here about other Montana natives here. I truelly do hope everything is ok. With you and babie. The Dr.s freaked me out lol I will love my baby no matter what. I will keep you updated on when babie is born. Dr.s still do bi weekly scans just to be on the safe side.
