wondering if there are any homeschooling co-ops in the area... if not. I'm wondering how many homeschoolers on Ft Lewis would be interested in joining one. if there isn't one, I want to start one in time for 2013-2014 Academic Year. My daughter learns better in a populated environment. I don't agree with the Public School system and can't afford Private School - so Homeschool Co-op is a cool alternative. :) 

I home school but we are not apart of a coop, I think there is a coop called HOPE that meets at Rainier View Christian Church. Have you looked into any of the Meetup group? There is one for Thurston and Pierce County. That group is really active and members host tons of events. There is also a newer military homeschooling families group on the meetup site. I think there are homeschool activities thru CYSS that meet once per month and I know the library is having something for homeschoolers-a class for using the library.

Kristen. We are looking to start homeschooling soon. We live in Pierce County. Do you have info on the Homeschool group there? I would like to find a group to meet up with occassionally. 

If you go to meetup.com and search for it, its called Homeschool Meetup of Pierce & Thurston County-that's the big one that does lots of events. There maybe be more groups but that's just the one I am apart of:) 

I can't seem to find it when I do a search Kristen. Do you have any suggestions on how I can find the group?

I will be moving to Lewis this summer and am also looking for some sort of homeschool group or co-op. We have been homeschooling for 5 years and I have 4 boys ranging in age from 4 to 12. Not sure yet where we'll be living, but plan to be in either Pierce or Thurston counties. Any info anyone can give me on the area and what homeschooling resources are available would be greatly appreciated!
