So, my hubby is deployed and wont turn in the housing papers so I am coming back to Lewis and need to knowwhat are decent apartments in the area for $1270 or less for a 3 bedroom, safe neighborhood close to base...I won't do Tillicum and I won't do right outside the logistics gate. Thanks ahead of time yall =)

I would stay south of post personally. Dupont, Hawks Prairie, Lacey, even Olympia. I have used ahrn.com website a lot when moving and you can put in your bah and what cities and type of place you are looking for.

I found this actually last night while looking and its on the rpp list :)

I would try Dupont. There are a lot of single family homes there for rent.

I've never dealt with that management group but for the price and size of townhouse that seems really nice!

housing on post can give you an rpp list as well as a list of approved property managers. depending on where you want to be and what you need you could even rent a house for that (like out in yelm)

when we lived in wa it was just the two of us so we got an apartment for 755 and pocketed the money for a downp payment for a house.

yeah if I knew we were staying here I would rent it.I have lived in spanaway most of my life and from walmart and deeper its a really nice area and the schools are really good.

I agree with NadaSuperstar why rent an apartment when you could possibly live in a house.

I had a friend who lived in Spanaway in a new area that was being developed and her house was amazing!!

I appreciate all the feedback. Its duper helpful!! I have seen some of the 3 bedroom apartments and alot of them in the nicer areas seem to be above my bah and so I am thinking of leaning towards renting a house.

I was considering Dupont since it is outside the gate and we want to save as much gas as possible even though I work from home but is it a nice commute from lewis to yelm or lacey and vice versa?

Thanks a3526744uu but we do have 2 cats and unfortunately that says no pets but I appreciate it =)

Its only about 20 minutes from Lacey and Yelm, there are back roads for both. We are from the area. Its much less expensive then Dupont as well.

Brighton Place apartments. They aren't the best we have ever lived in (mostly because the appliances aren't brand spankin new) but they were still nice for us and it is on the RPP program.

If you want to save money living in Dupont wont work. Most rentals there for a 3bed are atleast 1300 a month or more. We rented a small 3bed house before we bought our place last year and it was 1400 a month for 1500 sqft. Spanaway is good as long as you live in the right part. There are some really bad areas to watch out for. The drive takes my husband about 20-30 min going through the east gate.
