I know I sound very ignorant right now, but what is a dity move? I am not close to a JPPSSO office at the moment so you gals are my best bet. We are moving from Lewis to Bliss. Someone here told me that the Army is no longer flying out people so we have to drive down there. People have also said they make money from doing this. How so? The Army already packed and stored our stuff because we were in the process of going to Korea (so I assume we are doing partial dity?). After waiting for so long (for housing, all that medical stuff, approval, etc.) my husband and I decided that I just stay in the states. So once my husband is back in Lewis... how do we start our move? Do we request that we take our stuff out of storage and move it ourselves or have them directly ship it to Bliss?

Full dity is if you do all yourself.

Partial is you drive, army takes your stuff.

no one can fly anymore.

I dont know anyone who made money,we made nothing after rent and so on.

we went from lewis to drum,

got total of 5400 dollars.

we did partial.

Go to jppso if you dont need your stuff, tell them to redirect to bliss.

youll have to refill paperwork out and hand them your new orders if you have them yet.

If its a Lewis and you need it, then pull it out. Once you get orders to Bliss redo your JPPSO brief.

If you call finance theyll give you the current, mileage, dla rates and per diem.

or if you want to do a full dity get your stuff out of storage if they allow it and rent a uhaul.

they will give you 80 % upfront he will have to apply for that in Korea my husband did that, but the money came really late.

then we got the rest of the 20 % comes after he signs in.

you get 1 day per 300 miles to your new post and that will give you the travel days the army will pay you from there you will be able to get a better estimate on how much youll get all together.

We've made money on every full dity move we've done but you have to follow the rules like weighing the truck empty and full and keeping receipts to turn in once you get to your new base. If you don't turn in the final paperwork your missing out on money. Family members also get partial per diem for each day... Even kids (if you have them).

Hi ella, you mention you got a total of $5,400... that seems a lot to me... so it all went to gas, food, and renting(you mean apt. or U-Haul)?

Most place require depostis/ first month's rent for new home and gas for a uhaul truck can be really expensive! I think that is what she was referring to. Also truck rent is so much per day.

So we are doing a full dity to move to Tennesse and we are going to ge the PODS thing, how would that work? Hubs is getting retired out.

Sorry ladies, but I'm so overwhelmed with info right now. Please clarify this again. So the Army has our stuff in storage now and I'm thinking for convenience we'll just have them ship it straight to our new duty station. I guess we are doing a partial dity move. What is my first step? I assume go to JPSSO and tell them then what? Where do we weight our vehicle? Does JPSSO give you 80% of your cost before we drive out?
