SSG- calm down!! Jesus you are constantly are saying awful things about Ft Lewis and WA... Not to be rude but I think its you. You gotta get yourself out of this funk and learn to enjoy one of the most beautiful states in the US! I'd be more then happy to help show you why I'm so passionate about this place!
Enjoy time with the my boys and husband. Have a great move to Ft Leavenworth :) Enjoy the awesome weather here.. Yes I love it here.. Been here on Lewis for 8 years, but lived here for 16. Melissa-- I love it here too so much to do even after growing up here :)
I've been all over the US and I love a lot of places, seen a lot of things but still not crazy about Lewis.... Been here 6 mnths I'm ready for our next duty station already..
*sarcasm* So when you wanna go outside or do something make sure to work your schedule around the 2 days a month we actually have sunlight and warmth.... Mid june and its below 60 I'm wearing a jacket and its raining..... My sister called me she's already on the white sandy Florida beaches its 90 there, the suns shining and its gorgeous....awesome, so I look out my window and woahhhhh cool.. RAIN!!! I can't wait to get outside today...yeay...
AGRE AGREE AGREE!!! I think everyone including SSG has the right to complain about this place. Ok so maybe Lewis its self isn't horrible and there is a ton of things to do here, but you can't get kids out, especially if you have a baby, in damp cold weather. They get sick. When it goes from hot to cold, back to hot, then to cold and rainy, the kids get sick even more. When your like her and myself, from the south with NORMAL and PREDICTABLE weather, this place kinda sucks. It's 80 something back home, sunny, my family is camping and started using their pool 2 months ago. It rains some in the spring, sunny in the summer, some rain in fall, and snow in winter. It's really predictable. My husbands dad is here for a visit and we can't even go do what we wanted to bc it's gross out today. But when we checked the weather a week ago it was suppose to be sunny and warm. Kinda annoying when they can never get it right
Hey if you're gonna let rain in wa stop you... Leave. Have fun somewhere else. I am grateful for all the rain we get (though I would appreciate a nice sunny summer too) it keeps out beautiful landscaping green and healthy. Also you have to remember this, we have not had a summer this wet and cold in YEARS. So I say suck it up enjoy it while your here or... Rot away in your house and never get to enjoy Washington. Whatever you want me on the other hand I'm going to Mt Rainier with the family Rain or shine and doing some hiking!
SORRY everyone, when my family moves in; the area seems to get the craziest weather EVER haha. When we moved to FL they got bad weather. When we moved to OK they have record heat waves ..THEN when we move to WA they had record heat and now this yr a crazy cold spring/summer going on!!!!! So blame it on us ;-)
Well I personally LOVE this state. We have been here a year and I love it! Im from San Diego and we cant go back there. We dont have the money and I refuse to live in a gang infested slum b/c we dont have the money to live in a nicer area. Out here we live in Lacey and while there may be crime around us, I rarely hear of anything bad here! I hope we NEVER leave! My family is trying to get out of Pensacola now and move here. You cant beat mountains, forests, beaches, lakes, amazing shopping, and actual sidewalks in neighborhoods!!!!!!!!!! With all that said I totally get ppl hating it here too. My dad lived in Seattle before I was born and said it was depressing to him. I like the rain on most days, it means no ones kids will be at my door every 5 minutes!!!!!!!
I'm not trying to say people shouldn't or "can't" like WA I just like people to know about the great things here ya know?! Rain doesn't stop us and I wish it didn't stop others :( The people who live in Dupont are still doing the garage sale today woohoo that's another reason to love washingtonians we don't let a little thing like rain stop us from having a garage sale! Woohoo lol
Oh I forgot about that! I should have gotten the kids up early to go! We are doing the Toy-R-Us thing today! If I cant make it today I hope I remember next year!
I laugh about the rain out here .Okay yeah its wet, but my parents are in Pensacola dealing with Flash Floods!!!!!!!!! Umm Ill take this soft rain over that crapola
i honestly dont care for the rain but it doesnt stop me from getting out esp with my girls, when it rains it gives me the opportunity to wash the car and go for a drive lmao so i've explored alot of washington on my own and i've found ALOT of beautiful places that just take my breath away at the beauty of it all, like right now as retarded as it may seem im saving up to go to forks, WA because its a 3hr drive so undoubtedly thats gonna cost some money and my mom just sent me her AWESOME kodak easyshare camera this thing is something i've always wanted it may be big and black n bulky well not really big but i like it, and it takes really great pictures, anyways point being im going to drive up there one of these days take a TON of pictures and see the ocean because for the 2 1/2 years that i've lived here i havent been to the ocean lol probably not missing much but to me its important to see it because its one of those important places that i want to see in my lifetime, so rain or no rain i will be out doing god only knows what lol
I went to forks last year and it was SO much fun! We went in sept. So we didn't get in the water too much but the beaches were awesome! Ruby beach is a rock beach for the most part but I LOVED it! I hope you get to go soon. I think you'll really like it. Also go to ocean shores or seaside. Two of my favorite places to go!!
Melissa is starts at 12 but depending on which one she is going to she may want to go early!
I LOVE Ocean Shores. We are buying the kids wet suits (we have one so far). B/c they could care less how cold it is they want to be in the water like a fish lol. So if I can keep them a little warm yay!
well im hopeing to go after hubby gets home next month, no definate date yet but i know the last possible day he'll be home lol so thats something, but i have to throw in the factor that he DOESNT want to leave the house for at least 36hrs for obvious reasons lmao, so i told him as long as we went i would be happy because its one more place i can say "HEY I'VE BEEN THERE!" lol just like i told everyone and anyone back home the first time i went to seattle! that was something got lost lol
Totally off subject but I'm so excited for him I have to share!! My Hubby will be summitting Mt Rainier next weekend! He has been training all year for this and it has been something he has wanted to do since he was a kid! I am so proud of him!!! And I can't wait for him to go and come home and tell me all about his 3 day trek to the top of Rainier.
