We are moving from Puyallup to post (thank god...in some ways). The drive sucks, the rent sucks, the house sucks..sucks moving this pregnant too but o'well. We were going to Davis Hill but turned it down because of the lack of garage-hubby is a mechanic and often gets to sleep in the garage because of his mouth :) Any positives/negatives about this housing? We are getting a 3 bedroom which i've been told is about the size of our closet condo here in puyallup. Also anyone have kids 16 months or 6 years old? Ill need playmates for them!!

Thanks for the advice :)

ella --- 14 years ago -

Sad :( I would have stayed in Davis Hill the houses are identicle except you get a garage... And Davis Hill is remodled compared to most homes over here arent..

Heather --- 14 years ago -

New Hillside has been remodeled, especially compared to the houses I have been in up in Davis Hill. I am headed out of New Hillside next week. I have liked living over here and yes, the garage is great to have!

Gretchen --- 14 years ago -

I guess it depends on where in New Hillside you are? We live in Discovery Village...which runs right into New Hillside. I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old. My 6 year old goes to Hillside Elementary. Is that where your 6 year old will go??

brenda --- 14 years ago -

hubby is a mechanic and often gets to sleep in the garage because of his mouth :)

lmao! I almost spit out my drink!!! my hubs is a mechanic too and garage is a must, non negotiable. We are getting a storage unit so he can have more room out there. Then maybe will have a place to put up his cot when he gets lippy too!hehehe

ella --- 14 years ago -

Ummm my neighbors houses both havent... and are own is a pos...

Amber --- 14 years ago -

When the hubby went to his housing appt today they said there were only 13 houses in Davis Hill with garages so we declined that house and went to the New Hillside wait list. Ok so we went from 1st to 20th but we need 20 days notice for our condo here anyways, so it works out. As for remodeled, we were in oldddd (65 year old) officer housing at fort lee then went to brand new housing so we've had our share of ancient old man housing-haha. And we dont know what school she's going to be going to. Have to figure that out this afternoon. Do they have buses in that housing? We dont have a bus here because we're only 5 minutes from her school but it would have made it rough getting our son, newborn and her in the car to drive down the road, back home, unload the kids..not to mention right after a c-section. My husband would say-oh, you did it when I was deployed, I dont wanna hear it. :( Mouthy one he is! And the garage was a must for us. Not only for my husbands sleeping quarters but since we have the 2 1/2 car garage here and ample storage (for a closet sized condo,we make it work) down grading to old man housing again wasnt gonna work unless it had a garage. :) Thanks for all the confusing advice! lol

brenda --- 14 years ago -

We my only complaint is 1050 sq ft. is tiny but the garage and the bigger yard is the give and take..so I am happy enough with it, oh and no commute saves time and money. You'll like it I am sure

I love our house in New Hillside. The only thing I don't like is the flooring in the kitchen and bathrooms. But we were so lucky, we got all new carpets, blinds, and some windows. From what my neighbors say the folks who lived here before us really tore this place apart! The floors were really gross (kitchen and bathroom) when we moved in, but I stay on top of it and this place is really nice. We have a huge backyard and amazing neighbors!

HisGoddess --- 14 years ago -

I love living in New Hillside. we've got a pretty nice place. It's not HUGE, but I make it work. It's big enough to fit what I need, but not so big that I collect extra crap.

Merktdawg07 --- 14 years ago -

Collecting extra crap is my problem! I love to "decorate" hehe. But this place is so nice compared to what we have had when we first moved to Tacoma. Finally feels like a home :)

ella --- 14 years ago -

just like Justen we had the same issue the flooring is really old school, but we got new blinds, but dam the last people i swear had holes in every wall door, we had them replace so much sence we moved in here because it was falling apart..

Merktdawg07 --- 14 years ago -

Yeah, I just had housing come out to work on a few things last week. The people before us had holes all down the hallway, what looks like from baby gates...well once I put up my baby gate it punched right back through what they tried to cover up. All in all the place isnt bad

ella --- 14 years ago -

LOL we had the same thing one bedroom door had a huge hole they patched it up oh so not nicely it cracked Kiyan kicked the ball and went right through...

The garbage disposal and dishwasher and the where you attach your hoses for the washer were all clogged !! SO BAD and disgusting !!!! they have been here probably every week sence we have been here only for three months..so sad.. Im so mad ...

I lived in New Hillside but had to move to Disc.Village cuz of space issues. I LOVED new hillside tho. The best thing is that the garages are between the houses so you NEVER hear your neighbors, unlike the paper thin walls here in DIscovery. If I could have had a 4 bdrm @New Hillside I woulda stayed there!

*HeatherS* --- 14 years ago -

I love living in New Hillside. I have lived here a year and not had one issue. We live in a three bedroom and have three kids ages 2, 9, and 15 and they absolutely love it also. It may be a little small compared to what we had back at Bragg but it is what I make it. All houses have there issues no matter where you live. Good luck!!!

Merktdawg07 --- 14 years ago -

I should probably check the hose attatchment thingy. our dryer doesnt dry right lol. housing will be here again wednesday, will they check it for me?

ella --- 14 years ago -

We lived in Davis Hill completly remodled gorgeous hom I regret giving up but needed to get closer to work... And then moved back to Beachwood... and loved it no issues at either homes minus the sewers backing up lol..

This house in New hillside is by far the worst home, but its thanks to the poeple that lived here before us... ughhh but we had to get back on post asap so my fault to.. The neighbors are sweet noisy sometimes but we aint that quiet very kid friendly my 2 year old always has someone to play with and huge back yard

*HeatherS* --- 14 years ago -

Oh and our daughter goes to Evergreen and there is no bus for her. Which really sucks since I live at the start of New HIllside so its a long walk for a 9 year old so I have to take and pick her up everyday. But its a great school!!!!

HisGoddess --- 14 years ago -

They have 4 BDRM places in new hillside now. They're TINY though... same size outside... but with four bedrooms... I wouldn't recommend them.

Amy L --- 14 years ago -

unlike the paper thin walls here in DIscovery.

You must have loud neighbors..lol I live in Discovery, and NEVER hear our neighbors..lol

on a side note, whats the sq ft in new hillside?

Sandra --- 14 years ago -

My neighbor's kid cried at all hrs. of the night and woke me up, once their alarm clock woke me up!!!!!!I'm serious, I heard their alarm @530!!!Never fightin tho, but the kid I could have lived without!

ella --- 14 years ago -

they have th sq ft on the webiste they vary ares is smaller so abot 1200

Amy L --- 14 years ago -

wow 1200 is small.

ella --- 14 years ago -

Its a tiny little hole.. we have the smallest style of home though.. the others are bigger by a couple hundred sq feet

HisGoddess --- 14 years ago -

It's not all that small if you lay everything out right. Yeah I wish I had more room for my kitchen table, but otherwise it's all good

ella --- 14 years ago -

We dont have anything.. just basic couch bed dresser lol tv.. and dining table.. The closet space in bedrooms sucks so bad.. tiny tiny tiny...

We cant use are garage they kept there dog in there and there is hair and smells so bad...

But overall the bedrooms are fine, and living room and dining room are huge kitchen needs more cabinet space.. And wish we had the house with the laundrey room...

Merktdawg07 --- 14 years ago -

I feel like our house is pretty big. :-) you don't have a laundry room?? Where is your washer/dryer??

ella --- 14 years ago -

In the dam kitchen lol.. behind doors... oh god it is so bad.. I live in a shack literally

Merktdawg07 --- 14 years ago -

Ah. I saw a house on mcchord like that. It was like the washer and dryer were just apart of the counter. No thanks. So glad I have a room for that.
